The book is published in four languages and is intended for professional musicians, performers and researchers of Stravinsky's works, for listeners and readers with high intellectual demands, and for those interested in the history of the Russian musical culture of the early Twentieth Century, in the life of distinguished composers and performers, in the musical life of St. Petersburg, as well as for those who value contacts with the original, priceless documents of composers' creative process.

5.0 out of 5 stars An in-depth musical study and a work of scholarly criticism, July 25, 2003
This review is from: Igor Stravinsky's Orchestrations of Beethoven's & Mussorgsky's Song of the Flea (Treasuries of St. Petersburg Musical Archives) (Hardcover)
Enhanced by Arkady Klimovitsky with epistolary sources, analytical essays, historical and cultural studies, and an extensive reference section, Igor Stravinsky quite informatively presents orchestrations of "The Song of the Flea" by Modest Mussorgsky, and "The Song of the Flea" by Ludwig van Beethoven. With its bilingual text both in the original Russian and in English, and illustrated with black-and-white photographs as well as sheet music, Igor Stravinsky is an in-depth musical study and a work of scholarly criticism which is expressly intended for and very highly recommended to the personal and professional library collections of advanced academicians, practitioners, and classical music patrons.
