5.0 out of 5 stars With Straw House, Everyone's In the Band..., January 12, 2000
By
This review is from: Straw House Down (Audio CD)
Straw House combines the essence of a socially concious soul with outstanding musicianship and entertainment. Mayer's work on this album confronts the very nature of humanity - from varied (and sometimes difficult to swallow) points of view - while remaining true to its entertaining nature.

Everyone should be so fortunate as to spend just one minute with the humanity at Molly O'Malley's, where "the player's fee is a pint or three and EVERYONE'S in the band." An album to play on your own Route 66 with the top way down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rosa Parks song stands up well in U.S. history class, December 8, 2003

This review is from: Straw House Down (Audio CD)
I use the Rosa Parks song as the theme song for the Civil Rights Unit that I teach (11th grade U.S. history). After listening to this song, I ask my students..."Did the Civil Rights Movement kill Goliath?" At the end of the unit, they answer that question in essay form.
Kind of a funky review, I know, for a CD, but hey...maybe some other history teacher could use it!
P.S....I do like Peter's other songs & music in general.
