Elizabeth Jackson better known as Lizzy is a strong-minded woman. She wanted a man who could give the same qualities and complement her in a relationship, coming up short practically every time until she finds her future husband, Derrick. Elizabeth and Derrick both agree on sharing the rest of their lives together that is until on their wedding day Derrick tells the bad news, that he cheated on her the day before the wedding. Derrick feels he let down Lizzy and isn't the man for her but Lizzy goes against her better judgment and marries him anyway. Before Elizabeth, Derrick and their unborn child are able to share a life together a tragedy occurs that will change Elizabeth's life.
Lizzy is unable to stay strong and deal with the recent tragedy, so she admits herself into a mental hospital. God comes to Elizabeth in her dream and shows her she will have a baby boy. Ready to start a new life, her and her son, Derrick Jr. moves to ATL, GA and opens an organization that tends to disadvantaged youths with learning disabilities. Focusing on helping the youth and molding a beautiful son into a good man Elizabeth Jackson has her work cut out for her.
Before reading this novel, I was very intrigued to why Mr. Poe titled the novel Strawberries and Blackberry Cheesecake but by the time I got to the last period I very much understood. I would not have picked another title!
Mr. Poe did a very good job at connecting his readers to the characters in the novel. The book is written in manuscript style, which is not my preference but I believe it is still a decent read. Love, passion, tragedy and triumphs are all combined in Mr. Poe heartfelt novel STRAWBERRIES AND BLACKBERRY CHEESECAKE.

Elizabeth "Lizzy" Jackson was raised by her parents to be a strong, determined woman. She wanted a man who was strong and determined as well, but as her best friend Netty said to her many times Lizzy attracted men projects. Men projects are men who need help. Lizzy thought she found that strong man in Derrick, her future husband, except he admits the day before their wedding he cheated on her. Although he doesn't feel he's worthy of marrying Lizzy, she forgives Derrick and tells him the exciting news she's been keeping a secret-- she's pregnant. A tragic accident will change the course of her life forever.
Even with the love and support from her family Lizzy is unable to cope with the tragedy; therefore, she admits herself into a mental hospital. While recuperating in the hospital, God comes to Lizzy in a dream and reveals her unborn child is a son and she starts to devise a game plan to raise the perfect man. A year after the birth of her son, Lizzy and Derrick, Jr. move to Atlanta, GA where she opens a facility for under-privileged youths with learning disabilities. She diligently works to provide a good life for her son as she starts the journey to raise a good son.
Since I have a deep love for strawberries, blackberries and cheesecake, I couldn't wait to find out what these delectable foods represented in STRAWBERRIES AND BLACKBERRY CHEESECAKE. The message is so profound that every woman will be on a search for her very own strawberries and blackberry cheesecake.
STRAWBERRIES AND BLACKBERRY CHEESECAKE is written in a manuscript style and as an avid reader, I'm not sure I could get accustomed to reading a book written in this style. However, Mr. Poe combines some excellent poetry in several chapters of his novel, which I found to be quite exhilarating. STRAWBERRIES AND BLACKBERRY CHEESECAKE offers its readers love, tragedy, and triumph.
