4.0 out of 5 stars a pretty and healthy plant
I have had this for just under a month and it has definitely filled in and there is alot of new growth. There aren't any flowers yet but some of the leaves have come in with very striking deep pink tones. I also planted a start that fell off of the plant and it seems to be doing fairly well. I am definitely happy with the purchase and hope that the flowers are half as...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Strawberry And Cream
If you want the strawberry and cream look do not buy this plant. I love the greenery and it worked out well for my wedding centerpieces. I wanted the red and white look to match my wedding colors but after a year of growing the plant I have never seen it bloom. The greenery is very nice and I simply surrounded it with cut flowers and colored stones to make up for the lack...

5.0 out of 5 stars Strawberries & Cream Wax Plant, August 18, 2008
This review is from: Strawberries & Cream Wax Plant - Hoya - Great House Plant - 4" Pot
I have had the wax plant for over 30 years and have found that it blooms profusly when it is root bound and kept in a sunny location in the house. It doesn't like to be moved. I have given away many starts and those who have received the gift have also been pleased. It will take awhile for it to become rootbound in order to bloom, but the results are well worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strawberries & Cream Hoya, October 26, 2007

This item arrived fron Hirt's Gardens in a very short time and was in excellent shape. I think there were 5 plants in a 4" pot and they are beautiful.

This review is from: Strawberries & Cream Wax Plant - Hoya - Great House Plant - 4" Pot
Well, first let me start with how well Hirts Nursery did in shipping my 3 plants. I ordered a Strawberries & Cream Wax plant, one Yellow Crown of Thorn plant and one Yellow Xmas Cactus plant. They all came together in one box with an instant heat pak. And packed so that the dirt in their pots would not fall out. They had to travel across the country to the Pacific Northwest in February. Excellent job Hirts! All three were what I expected. I did not find any pest on them and kept them away from other plants for a few weeks just in case. And I did not expect any blooms. Hopefully that will come later. They are still in the same pots but ALL have new growth waiting to be repotted, as we are into May. Yes, I would order from Hirts again. Thank you Amazon and Hirts for an excellent experience in ordering online for plants! Linda B. Washington*

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased, September 17, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Strawberries & Cream Wax Plant - Hoya - Great House Plant - 4" Pot
The Hoya offered for sale by Hirt's is a choice variety that isn't easy to find, let alone at such a reasonable price. It (along with a dwarf banana plant, rated separately) arrived in very good condition just 3 days after placing the order, an admirable feat. The Hoya arrived in excellent condition. After reading the other reviews, I quickly noted that the plant was actually several well-rooted plants. Considering that this is a variety that has very attractive variegated leaves, I decided to separate the 6 plants and repot individually with the intention of giving most of the others away as gifts after getting established. At little more than $1 per plant this is an extremely good value. However, one might consider that as Hoyas are noted to flower better and faster when root-bound, it's possible that it would do well as multiple plants in a single pot.

While I would recommend Hirt's Gardens in general, I would most particularly recommend this selection.

Additional comment (10/26/09): Since writing this product review I've done quite a bit of searching for more information on this particular variety. Several posts claim that this is just a made-up name for a well-known cultivar, Hoya carnosa 'Krimson Queen'. Further searching reveals that 'Krimson Queen' itself comes in at least two forms: white or pink-rose flowers. Moreover both are different cultivars of what is most properly named Hoya carnosa rubra. The only point is that the plant sold here as 'Strawberries and Cream' isn't quite as rare as I first thought. However, my rating remains at 5 stars as this is a desirable plant regardless what you call it and it is still a very good value.

The plant is easy to care for and is beautiful just for its overall shape. The flowers are heavenly. The plant appears healthy. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Received in excellent condition!, November 23, 2007
Received my Hoya plant in excellent condition, and in very good timing - just a very few days. There were several plants in the 4" pot not just one. I have checked with quite a few stores & nurseries here in
Texas & have been unable to locate the plant. Most of the places I had to explain what a Hoya plant was. I am very satisfied with this sale & would highly recommend other purchasers.

5.0 out of 5 stars HEALTHY, March 20, 2010

Arrived well packed and healthy. Also so far no bugs which have come home with other plants from this seller. FYI if you are not familiar with Hoya. These like to go dry between waterings and go rootbound before they flower. They send out long stems and flower umbels form on these so think before you cut off growth at the tips. And do not remove flower umbels. They will reflower from the same umbel. So be patient. May take 2-3 years before flowering but worth the wait. Smell heavenly and my first Hoya flowers 2 or 3 times a year now. EASY TO GROW. A good choice for beginners or those who have trouble with plants.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Hirts Gardens, March 3, 2008
This review is from: Strawberries & Cream Wax Plant - Hoya - Great House Plant - 4" Pot
I love Hirts Gardens. They always treat the plants with such care. I ordered my plants in the middle of febuary to be shipped to Colorado. They arrived in 3 days packaged in packing peanuts and heat packs, with no damage, or even signs of stress! They were suprisingly well rooted for such young plants. I would highly recommend Hirts Gardens to anyone who loves plants, green thumb or not.
