The real revelation is the fabulous remastering job that was done on these funk classic by the Brothers Johnson. I had heard the Johnson Brothers before and was reminded of their songs when I watched the Will Ferrell movie "Semi-Pro". There are several greatest hits compilations of the Brothers Johnson and I chose this one largely on the basis of the inclusion of certain songs. Whoever remastered this CD did a fantastic job because it sounds like it was recorded recently. So get this not just for the classic funk songs but also for the excellent sound quality of the remaster.

I LOVE THIS CD!!,

This CD takes you back to the days when music was about dancing, partying and feeling good inside. I love mostly all the songs even the ones I hadn't heard before. The real surprise was "Treasure" I did not know they sung that song. I, unlike another reviewer, did not hear any explicit language so I'm not sure which songs they are referring to. I can't wait to play this old school funk for my kids.

Great old school funk just listening to the musicians will tell you why music of today has little lasting value. When I listen to this cd I just have one request and that is Louis Johnson why did you change from playing a Fender bass early in his career to that mutted flat sound you get from playing that Gibson.

If you enjoy the Brothers Johnson and their deep funky basslines, this CD is for you. Songs like Stomp, Get the Funk outta my Face and Strawberry Letter 23 defined the snapping and popping basslines of today's bassists. I highly recommend this for all you old-schoolers!

What a pleasant surprise, there is so much more to the Brothers Johnson than Strawberry Letter 23, Stomp, etc. The deep LP cuts we played in addition to the hits are here. Titles may not be familar, but the songs are!!!! Bravo & well done, collection. Also remastered to the fullest volume & includes a wonderful booklet with The Brothers history.
Please Q produce one more CD!!!!!!!

Great 70's-80's funk/soul!,
This review is from: Strawberry Letter 23: The Best of (Audio CD)
The Brothers Johnson are one of the most important funk/soul groups of the 70's. They could do hard funk, jazzy funk and funk that leaned towards disco. One thing I've always thought - that the lead singer sounds kind of like Jermaine Jackson, which is certainly not a bad thing - I love Jermaine! In fact, for the longest time, I thought "Strawberry Letter 23", was sung by Jermaine Jackson! Just my opinion, of course. Anyway, if you love 70's funk and soul, you should have this disc!
