I was just a shorty then, but I remember this song. That's the great thing about that decade; the songs were so memorable, even if they were actually goofy or you just had no idea what they were about. They were wonderful for singing along to, listening to in the car or in your bedroom, and all your friends knew the melodies and lyrics as well as you did.
I haven't figured this one out yet, but it is nicely arranged and sung, and was a perfect choice for inclusion in the Six Feet Under episode "Ecotone," in which a main character and his brother seemed to hear it in a shared dream right before one brother died; they imagined themselves in the back of a van driven by their dad, back in the 70s.

I wonder how many people know that this version by the Bros. Johnson is a re-make? The original by Shuggie Otis came out in 1971... both versions are very nice. The Brothers Johnson version was the first one I heard when it was a radio hit, and it's pretty true to the original. Check out the original if you like this one, Shuggie was a great soulful singer.

The Brothers Johnson are awesome. The R & B sound they produce along with a lot of real Rock and Roll sounds is absolutely incredible. The songs they released were brilliant and bring back a lot of memories. Listening to one of their hits sounds as fresh today as the day it was released. You gotta have it.

The first time I heard this song was in the car with friends while we were out driving the country roads in Michigan. Perfect cruising song.

Since then every time I heard it in the car it brought me back to that time.

One of my favorite songs of my youth....brings back memories of laying out in the sun listening to my favorite radio station playing the top hits. Puts a smile in my heart!

I was reminded of this on many talk radio stations that use this as bumper music and decided I wanted my own bumper music for other conversations. Nice.

I heard a cover of this song on Pandora and was really curious to hear the original. When I did, I knew I had to buy a copy. Good fidelity.
