Purchased this for my three year old's birthday. The items that come with it are okay, although the packaging is very misleading (have to look at small print to see it doesn't come with furniture shown on box).
It is a decent size, and you can toss a lot of SSC stuff in there and close it up... BUT... the stickers that come with it are hard to put on correctly, the sides are concave (it is a strawberry after all!) and getting the stickers on without puckering is problematic. Also, since the toy is not opaque, the stickers show through from the inside to the outside. Not attractive at all. It is cute, and my daughter loves it. (...)

Though my 3 1/2 year old loves playing with the strawberry house, we were both disappointed when we first received it. It comes with very little furniture, only a chair, table, tv, closet, and clock. Additional furniture pieces are, at this point, impossible to find. Plus, they advertise that you can close it up and take it anywhere. Well, there is very little room inside. By the time you put the furniture it comes with inside and the doll you have a hard time closing it up. If you want to take it somewhere and have additional furniture or dolls plan on taking a bag along. It is adorable, but felt we should have gotten more for the money.

I recently brought this house for my 2 1/2 year old that is crazy over Strawberry Shortcake. It is a really cute house with plenty to keep her busy for hours and she loves the fact that she can take it and her dolls with her when we go somewhere. I was disappointed that it is impossible to get any of the extra furniture that is shown on the back of the box and I am not paying $60 and up for what they are going a set on eBay when they sold for just $17.00 a set in the stores. It is a real shame what they did to the new dolls that came out made by Playmate this year. They do not even look like the Strawberry Shortcake we have all grown to love over the years. This house is worth the money if you already have the dolls that were made by Bandai that are 5.5 inches, because if you don't they are getting really hard to find except on eBay.

My daughter is very careful with her toys. We bought this item a few months ago, and the clasp never stays shut. Every time she picks it up it falls open. I have written the company twice and have never received any response from them. I'm just not very happy with this item at all.

I have to completely agree. I was also dissapointed when I opened the house. I didn't notice any scent at all and it didnt have the furniture I wanted. The Berry Happy Home comes with a table, etc and a bed. This doesn't. I have looked everywhere online to find the additional furniture and they are nowhere. I even contacted the maker, Bandai. Their response was the toys r us carried it....and they don't. I recommend the Strawberry Shortcake:Berry Happy Home....not this scented one.

My daughter received this toy as a gift for Christmas 2004. We had quite a time finding furniture and accessories to go with it. I felt like I had won the lottery when I stumbled upon the last of each of the three furniture sets at a toy store. We bought most of the dolls on online auction. We love the Bandai Strawberry Shortcake products, especially the dolls which are virtually non-existant now that they are out of production. My four year old will play with her "Stawberries" for well over an hour at a time. I almost cried when I saw the new Strawberry Shortcake dolls manufactured by Playmates. (They don't look a thing like Strawberry Shortcake.) This house is worth the money, though we have had a few problems. The window flower boxes pop off from time to time but are easily popped back into place. Last week the latch broke, but in all fairness we had had it for over a year with no problems in that area and I was attempting to force it closed during a whirlwind tidying up session and part of it snapped off. My daughter seldom attempts to close it and hasn't even noticed the broken latch. She still plays with it all the time. My biggest criticism of this product isn't with the product itself. I just can't believe that they produced such tremendous quantities of these (they were stacked high in toy and dicount stores during the holidays of 2004) while producing such a scarcity of the furniture sets and dolls. People went to stores after Christmas to buy furniture and dolls and found nothing but filles and the mermaid line of dolls, with an occassional plaid clad Strawberry. What was Bandai thinking? They should have released another supply of Strawberry and her friends in their traditional outfits for all the little girls who found Berry Happy Homes under the tree that year. I cannot help but wonder if production and marketing mistakes such as these were the reason behind Bandai's loss of the contract to produce the Strawberry Shortcake toys. Regardless, the whole thing stinks. The new Playmates dolls are nothing short of ridiculous and I refuse to buy them. If I were you I would buy this house since what is left of the Bandai products is disappearing fast and the Playmates people are obviously pretty braindead about what Strawberry Shortcake should look like.

I bought this toy for my 4 year old who loves strawberry shortcake. In order for her to play with it I had to search everywhere to find extra dolls with an average price of 10.00 per doll. I still have not been able to find accessories for it. I opened the box and there was no "strawberry" smell at all as advertised on the box. My daughter was so excited at first but got bored after the first 1/2 hour because she had nothing to play with except the few pieces that came with the kit. By the time you hunt down what few products there are to go with this house, not to mention the ridiculis price you pay for them, its not worth the time, money or effort. She uses her Dora the explorer doll and the Dora house accessories to play with it. NOT WORTH THE MONEY YOU PAY, highly recommend the Sweet Street set ( alot of bang for your buck). We bought that to replace the strawberry house and she plays with it non stop.

I purchased this home for my daughter for Christmas in 2003. She still loves it 2 years later! That edition of the Berry Happy Home came with much better furniture than the new one. The furniture is no longer available, which really disappointed my daughter, who wanted a couch for the girls. We improvised with furniture from other toys. For those of you in search of the dolls: I have read online that Bandai will no longer be making the Strawberry Shortcake toys! This probably accounts for the doll shortage! Another company is supposed to take over marketing, hopefully meaning they will be putting the dolls back in the stores! The new Strawberry DVD that is due out in February will surely bring on more characters and hopefully more toys! All in all, my daughter loves this house, and has never gotten tired of it!

This toy could be great...if any of the advertised accessories were sold. In order to get a doll for the Home, you must bid ridiculously high on E Bay. There are accessories listed as being sold on the back of the box. This is FALSE. These accessories are no longer sold anywhere, including E Bay. Banai, the manufacturer of this piece, does not answer their phone, nor do they answer their e-mails. Yes, you may be getting a good deal on this, but it is still a high price for a piece of useless plastic junk.
