My daughter got this as a gift for her 6th birthday. The doll is really cute, and the hair accessories are fun. The make-up doesn't work quite as the instructions says it should. It comes with a "pen" that when filled with water, frozen, and starting to thaw, the pen should make make-up appear on the doll's eyelids, cheeks, and lips. The make-up is really already on the face, and the pen doesn't do anything. When applying warm water to the doll's face, the make-up begins to disappear but comes quickly back.

I wouldn't say you should avoid buying this item, but if you are buying it for the make-up fun, it might not be worth it.

The doll's make-up feature does not work at all, completely false claims. Hasbro should give everyone who purchased this their money back. Yes, it's cute, but children saw the commercial and wanted the doll so they could decorate her face, which does not work at all. Obviously they released this toy without even testing it. Total joke and rip-off.

We gave this to my daughter for Christmas. But it's a snore. You have to put warm water on the makeup to make it go away and then put ice water on it to make it come back (actually, it will come back omn it's own pretty quickly) which defeats the purpose. Ended up being just a doll.

I purchased this for my almost 5-year-old for Christmas, and she was generally pleased with it since she is a fan of anything to do with Strawberry Shortcake. The set comes with a Strawberry Shortcake doll with scented hair (smelling of strawberries), and some hair accessories. But, the supposedly major feature of this doll is the make-up surprise - where there's a little make-up pen which works as an applicator. The pen has to be filled with water, stored in the freezer (in an upright position), and once the water has frozen in it, needs to be removed from the freezer and applied to the doll's face as it begins to thaw (the make-up will then appear on the doll's face - the eyelids, the lips, and the cheeks). If the make-up is already there to begin with, well, a bit of warm water applied to the face makes the make-up disappear, and the whole process is repeated again.

Trouble is that this doesn't always work as it should - sometimes the make-up disappears after applying warm water and then begins to appear again (I guess it has to do with the temperature etc). The process is also rather tedious, and little girls are not known for their patience (or moms with other pressing things to do, for that matter). Final verdict - the doll is pretty and my daughter loves it, but the make-up part is rather underwhelming.

Cute doll. Fun, nice size, nice hair. The "make-up" feature is half-baked. Does not work as advertised on the box or on the commercials. My 5yr old was very disappointed but still loves the doll.

The makeup is already on her face! The magic pen doesn't change a thing!!! My daughter still likes it... I just can't believe they sell it with advertising claims that are false!

This doll is terrible. The makeup doesn't work and neither do the stickers. How do stickers not work you ask? When you try to pull them off the sheet the backing separates and you are left with just the front of the sticker and a paper back. How in the world can them mess up a sticker? Terrible toy and a huge waste of money. I bought mine at Walmart for over $20 so I feel even more ripped off at such a piece of junk!

The doll is fine except the make up which was the main reason my daughter wanted it. The make up is supposed to appear when it's exposed to ice cold water. However, the make up appears at room temperature & the only way to make it disappear is to rub it with hot water. But as soon as it cools to room temperature, the make up reappears. Not much fun for a girl who wants to apply the make up herself.

This doll is cute, durable and smells of strawberries (of course), but as others have stated, the makeup that is supposed to appear with the included wand is already on her face. The only way to get her eye shadow and beauty mark to go away is by applying a hot washcloth or breathing hot air on the area, but it reappears before you even have time to grab the wand. The little hair clips are cute, but I wouldn't recommend this if your child wants it just from watching the commercial.

I got this for my daughter for Christmas. She loves brushing her hair and putting in the clips. The make-up pen, like others said does not work at all. The makeup is already on the face.
