Great under-the-radar talent,

I saw this New York artist during a summer concert series in our town and was immediately hooked. He sings in the vein of John Mayer and Jason Mraz (jazzy mellow with a smoky quality). His lyrics strike an emotional chord, ranging from deep angst to playful. My absolute favorite is "Ain't No Thing is Perfect." The strings on "Dust in the Wind" are great. Good songs for radio play include "One More Day" and "Summer." If you get a chance to hear him live or get your hands on his CD, go for it.

I usually like Christian heavy metal, but this band is great. I saw them in concert as the opening band for KC and the Sunshine Band. I love you KC, but I enjoyed Derek James by themselves. The concert could have started and ended with them. The band's musical style and lyrics are very steady and uniquely calm. I love them and plan to see them in concert again. All of the selections on the CD are very good...you'll enjoy it!!
