While I'd probably consider Stream of Passion to be my least favourite of the many Arjen Lucassen projects, I've got to say this DVD is pretty well done (especially for a presumably low-budget production). The picture is pretty crisp (and widescreen) and the sound is good (5.1 and stereo mixes). I think the performances are actually better than the studio CD - there's a lot more energy in the performance.

The performance also includes several Ayreon songs, a few of which Damian Wilson guests on. Some of these work well, but a few of them Marcella Bovio's voice isn't just suited for. Don't get me wrong, I think she's a great singer, but she sounds too 'nice' for the role of Rage in Day 3: Pain or the Barbarian in the Castle Hall (or even Passion in Day 11: Love). My only other gripe was there seemed to be a lot of band members waving their hair around, which looked a bit silly.

Despite those minor criticisms, I really enjoyed this DVD and would recommend it to any fans of Arjen Lucassen's projects.

I love this DVD, stellar performance and good editing, unlike some MTV-style produced DVD's that make you nauseous. If you are a fan of Ayreon in general and SoP in particular, you won't be disappointed! NOTE: this is not a "region 2" DVD, it's region-free and will play fine in the US DVD players.

I bought this DVD without really hearing many of the Stream of Passion songs, but i did like Ayreon. I must say that I really like this DVD and watch it quite a bit more than I thought I would. Every song is great and played well. The sound quality is excellent and the video is very clear and well put together. I would highly recomend this DVD to anyone, for this one is very good. (By the way, I really like Stream of Passion now!)

Before I give any kudos to AL let me say this about the BAND STREAM OF PASSION..... THEY ARE SIMPLY AN INCREDIBLE BAND and for those ARYEON fans you WILL get differnent takes on certain classics from the archives from Aryeon and SIMPLY beautiful rendetions from his latest "The Human Equasion" which begs to differ--- when will this genius perform the ELECTRIC CASTLE and THE HUMAN EQUASION in their entirety live in one concert for DVD...but enough of that now let me RAVE about the MAGNIFICENT CONECERT Stram of Passion Put on.... The Incredible Vocals, The Band, The Musicianship...absoutely outstanding...BRAVO to every member in the band and hope to see them on the road and in THE STATES SOON!!!!.... As every AL fan knows everything he touches is absolute MAGIC and this is NO different....completely outstanding in evreyway possible...lets just hope he does decide to use the female singers and guitarest in and upcoming Ayreon solo albums or the like.... My Hats off to ALL Singers and Musicians in SOP.....BRAVO!!!!!!!!!A MUST HAVE FOR ANY SERIOUS COLLECTOR......DO NOT MISS THE ALBUM OR DVD!!!!

A must for any fan of Stream of Passion or Arjen Lucassen , this is far the best DVD of an "everyday" tour gig I have yet found.

Look at the cover closely and note the "Featuring Ayreon" . This means that though the band line up is as in the original Stream of Passion, the set list is a great and rare blend , drawn roughly half from their first studio album (Embrace The Storm) and half from Arjen's Ayreon and Star One projects:

Marcella Bovio's vocals astound equally on Arjen's songs and on her own lyrics from the SOP album. Sister Diana B adds great backing vocals, Arjen plus Lori Linstruth add up to a formidable double-lead guitar team and ,later on , tour support Damien Wilson makes a welcome appearance as he rejoins the stage for a few of the Ayreon numbers

Its every bit as compellingly re-viewable as (say) the WT " Black Symphony" or Doro's "25 Years"-those were both very much "One-off" spectaculars though , this is just one gig on a "normal" tour . The band just plays real, no-nonsense , all-live rock, with a great vibe and clear real passion. No reliance on backing loops, no "look hey look we're cordless now "guitarists running from one side of the stage to the other.

Extras

Rather less by way of "Extras" than would fans would like, but then again this is not a Double-DVD set it is just a Single . Its 2 hrs 20 Concert plus Extras , so you cant complain they fitted in all they could

I love this CD... can't stop listening and looking at it. When the Levee Breaks is so intense and beautiful, it breaks my heart... yah, I know it isn't a romantic title, but that's what I hear in the song.

SOP is one of my fav groups and IMO, Marcela Bovio is one of the top symphonic metal singers. The rest of the group complements her so well and her Sister's harmonies go perfectly with hers. Just... WOW!

Live in the Real World is a cinematic high. Excellent color, excellent camera work, beautiful production. If you like quality Heavy Metal you must own this.

Live in the Real World is a good dvd which compliment the SOP cd Embrace the Storm.
