5.0 out of 5 stars Maximalist!, July 29, 2004

This review is from: Streaming (Audio CD)
The Necks' frontman Chris Abrahams' fourth solo piano outing, a double-disc that continues what his excellent Glow (Vegetable,2001) cemented: mesmeric, shimmering tapestries of sound. Melodies duck and weave through the fabric and shift over time in often unexpected ways, recalling the circular-breathing journeys of Ned Rothenberg or Evan Parker on their mellower end. For fans of his Sydney ensemble The Necks, this set won't disappoint--just don't expect the extraversion; for the most part, these are spun-glass compositions. Minus the just-intonation, this sits comfortably with La Monte Young's solo piano work, with more angular outcroppings. Gorgeous stuff.
