Excellent general purpose flashlight,

First of all, you have to recognize that this product is NOT claimed by the manufacturer to be a Tactical or Law Enforcement Duty light. Rather, it is a general purpose light for home, camp, auto, boating, and limited self-defense use. The "twin task" design is such that you have graduated light output levels to suit your needs. The switch is well located (unless you prefer the tail cap designs), and each of the 3 levels of light are clearly distinct. The light's patterns are very even with no spots or shadows. The included lanyard is good, and Streamlight sells a more deluxe lanyard for just a couple of bucks. The alloy tube and Lexan lens construction make for a very robust light, and you could use it as a self-defense tool if necessary while not damaging the light. The slimness of the C-cell sized tube does permit handling of both the light and a handgun using the Ayoob technique, and users with small or gloved hands (like in the cold of winter) will find this light eaiser to grasp than "D" cell sized lights. Due to market competition and trying to sell this light at the lowest price possible, it does not come with batteries, but then fresh "C" cell batteries are cheap and readily available worldwide. I highly recommend this light for home and camp use. Keep one in the car and you're good for all conditions, including an expedient self-defense tool. For more purely "tactical" applications other lights, albeit more costly, should probably be considered first. Finally, I've carried the light on duty (KCSD #945) to see if it would hold up and it did the job adequately, but I switched back to my Streamlight Scorpion for more serious work. Lastly, I gave one of these TT-3C lights to my son for use in all his Boy Scout activities, and it has provided 5+ years' of faultless service despite being dropped, dunked, frozen, left all day in the New Mexico sun, and generally banged about until half the exterior finish has been worn or scratched off. This light helped him earn his Eagle Scout rank, so I can't offer higher praise. This is one tough light with plenty of illumination output, and is a particularly outstanding value for the price.

This is the second Streamlight I've owned and this is as good as the first. The dual option of having LEDs and a Xenon bulb are great. Having the right tool for the right situation is always vital and this is like having two flashlights in one. Only negative is you have to cycle through the lights to turn it off, but this is only a minor annoyance.

This is a great flashlight. I have two other LED flashlights and they are good but they don't fit the bill when you need a BRIGHT light. With this I have both, the LEDs are bright and will give you what you need 90% of the time, But when you need more you just turn on the Xenon and you have a very bright light. I also like the strong metal case, it has the feel of a Mag light. If you have been thinking about getting a LED flashlight this is the one to get. (they make other sizes you might like for yourself)

I was looking for a multi-purpose flashlight to be used inside & around the house and found it in this twin-task. The two-stage LEDs are powerful enough for most needs and allow long battery life; the xenon bulb will take care of almost anything else when short- to mid-range illumination is needed.
The light is sturdy, well built and offers a good grip size, I have no worries when my kids want to play with it. It has gaskets which provide water resistance if dropped in water by mistake. Don't go swimming though ! I find one downside to be the switch, it is quite small and needs some force to push, it must also be cycled through all modes to turn off the flashlight (3-LED / 6-LED / XENON / OFF) which is common anyway in this type of light. I power the light with three rechargeable 2000mAh NiMH AA batteries & AA-to-C adapters which gives great battery life and is not as heavy as using C batteries. Obviously I wouldn't do that if the flashlight was a safety light kept in storage as the NiMH batteries would run dry even when not used. This is a great do-it-all flashlight at a very attractive price point and I will surely look for more Streamlight products in the future. I would buy again as a starter flashlight and then look at smaller all-LED models and/or Luxeon models.

I have been a fan of the SureFire lights for a long time. I like the Streamlight products as well, especially for the price. After reading the reviews I thought I would give this one a try, just so I have a light that doesnt cost me $15 worth of lithium batteries every time the wife or kids get a hold of it and leave it on.
The first annoyance I found was that this doesnt come with batteries! How silly is that! The lithium battery lights come with $15 worth of batteries, the LED lights come with batteries, why not this one? 3 C batteries only cost $3, why be stingy with this light and not the others? Now to the light. I could barely tell the difference between the two settings using the LED lights. Seemed pretty pointless after I used it a couple of times, they would have been better off just using the 3 or 6, not both. The regular light was disapointing. Not very bright when compared to the rest of the Streamlight or SureFire lights I have owned or used. It also had a ugly yellow color light and does not focus well, not the nice focused white light like most of the Streamlight products. I know this is a less expensive model than many of their lights, and much less expensive than the SureFire brand lights. But even taking that into consideration I am disapointed with this light. I would recomend the "Streamlight 68202 ProPolymer 4AA Flashlight with 7 Ultra Bright White LEDs" for $18 over this light. The LED setup works better, it comes with batteries and is much smaller and more manageable. For a "bright" light, I would go with the lithium battery type of Streamlight or preferebly the "Streamlight 75014 Stinger Compact Rechargeable 15,000 Candlepower Flashlight", it is much brighter, smaller, and rechargable. I am a fan of Streamlights products, this one just left too much that could have been improved.

This is my first flashlight. The reason i chose this is because it has a combination of both LED n Xenon, for close n far view respectively. I use it for my work in the aviation industry. Just by the 6 LEDs alone enable me to carry out my inspections that is about 20feet away. Needless to say about the Xenon bulb. ;)Two cons about this flashlight are it is a little heavy as it hold 3 C-size batts and the focus beam does not seem to achieve the standard that i want. Overall, this is great stuff!!!

Honeymoon over quickly,

This review is from: Streamlight 51002 TT-3C 3 C-Cell Xenon/6-LED Twin-Task Flashlight, Black (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought the Streamlight 51002 and was immediately impressed by the construction and how it felt in hand. The honeymoon was over quickly as I pushed the switch (too stiff), experienced the beam (not bright by today's standards, three modes: blue, more blue and yellowish), and the need to cycle through all three modes any time the flashlight is used.
Not overly impressed I then purchased the Palm Blaze 3C cells K23C Luxeon K2 6W LED Police Flashlight Baton. I cannot say enough about the beam color (white, not blue which is so common), intensity and the switch logic (most likely micro processor controlled) on the Palm Blaze 3C. I wish it felt more like the Streamlight, but they got the most important part right. On the Palm Blaze 3C you push the switch once for high, again quickly for low, or press and hold until it enters flash mode. Once you are in any mode for a few seconds, press once for off. Simple. The switch itself could be more pronounced as on the Streamlight), but tactily, it's just right. I highly recommend the Palm Blaze, but wish it had the asthetics of the Streamlight.

This an excellent flashlight. It is perfectly sized and balanced for most applications, particularly if you've become accustomed to a 3, 4 or 5 D-cell light as I have. And after you get used to the bright white light produced by the 6 LEDs, the supposedly higher lumen rating of the xenon bulb pales by comparison. Granted, batteries are not included, but this is a minor issue. Get a package of Duracells or, better yet NIMH batteries and you're all set. You'll have no regrets.

Disappointed in output,

This light is build very well but the output is disappointing at best. LED out is quite blue in color and not very bright by todays standards. The xenon is also dim and not focused. Not useful outdoors as light output does not project well at all. Looking for a CREE or K2 mod.
