The xenon bulb does a good job of lighting up an area, considering that it is so small. The three LEDs put out sufficient light for a small area, just like most LEDs.
The flashlight itself is a little long to stow away in your pocket comfortably, but I like that it takes AA batteries rather than AAA, which run down fairly soon even when powering LEDs. The only complaint I have (and it's a tiny one, I admit) is that with each push of the power button the flashlight cycles through OFF/xenon/OFF/LED, and it would be handy to be able to go directly to the xenon or LED on the first push.

Good buy..,

I bought this flashlight after looking at many compact flashlights. I was using a MAG 3D flashlight. I wanted a more compact, lighter flashlight and one that would give me more light for a set of batteries. This one does all that. Only thing that could have been better is the focussing ring. Turning it does produce as good a change as in my MAG 3D. The light intensity is good for a flashlight of this size.

I should start out by saying that overall I like this flashlight. Its pretty funny, I ended up spending more than an hour on Amazon (and Googling because of the massive array of flashlights Amazon carries) comparing flashlights. All I wanted was a replacement for the string of drug store flashlights that would throw weak light after 1 day. I am not a zombie apocalypse guy, outdoorsman or a LEO/security guard. I am just a geek who got tired of weak flashlights and bumping my head or cutting myself on computer internals. I expected just to buy a Mag in 2 seconds but when I searched for flashlights here, I ended up with like a million hits. So after narrowing down the hits here and surfing, I decided on getting this one. Basically it came down to price, battery type and, most importantly, features. I loved the option of xenon and LED modes, as well as the ability to focus the xenon beam. This guy had the most features for the money.
It has 2 major problems. One of which is more my mistake than a problem, which is that this is a long compact flashlight. This is not a pocket flashlight unless you have deep pockets. Its a belt/bag flashlight. This is something I should've known, given that it takes 3 AAs but pictures can be hard to judge size and it was not something I was paying too much attention to. This is not a deal breaker for using it, as it still works as well as the smaller pocket flashlights inside racks and computers because its lightweight for its size and very slim. In fact, I have recently found it can be an advantage, being able to hold the end and aim sideways as I squeeze between two racks, the extra length then comes in handy. The other problem is more serious. The button is annoying. You press once for LED and 3 times for xenon. The problem comes in that it "remembers" your last usage of the flashlight. So if you were on LED the last time you used it, the next time you press the button once, its using xenon mode. Given that xenon kills the battery 27 times faster, I prefer to use LED most of the time. If it didn't "remember" then every time I turned the flashlight on it would be using LED, which would be great. Instead, every time I turn it on its using xenon so I have to keep clicking. This would thing would work better if there was two buttons or a secondary switch to indicate xenon or LED usage. Ergonomically, its a PIA. There might be a way around this but I doubt it and there's not much in the way of instructions. Otherwise, its a great flashlight. Super bright for its size. The xenon focusing ring is slightly limited but, for a small flashlight with multiple modes, I can't complain. Its light and seems very durable. Love the fact that it uses 3 normal AA batteries. Feels great in the hand. Comes with a long shoelace style wrist strap and 3 AA Duracell batteries. The thing is, given the massive array of flashlights sold at Amazon in this class, including at least 1 other with the dual LED/xenon feature, its hard to recommend this flashlight because of the very annoying button design. Also given the price, its not cheap for a flashlight. Oh its a million times better than the $9.99 drug store ones, but in this price range a flashlight should be nearly perfect. So I might suggest you look for another flashlight without an annoying button.

This is an excellent product! The two types of bulbs (xenon and LED) provide a useful choice of brightness, color of light (the xenon is a "white-white" and the LED is a slightly bluish white) and battery life. There is a slight ability to focus the light beam. The on/off switch functions positively. The construction is sturdy. The batteries are easy to change.

Great flashlight. I've had it for about a month now, already dropped it a few times. Still works fine. It's a good size without being too big. And the light given off is reasonably strong. I'd say it illuminates nicely somewhere along 10-20ft in front of you. Beyond that not so much. I wish that you could adjust the light beam from wide to precise like you can on a similar mag-lite, but that is largely just a minor quibble.

The flashlight works well and the output is quite bright for its battery size. I've had larger Streamlights, which were known for durability and quality and this light appears to be no exception. The lanyard is a nice touch, for example, I have one hanging on a hook by the back door, which makes it convenient and out of the way. The only thing preventing 5 stars is that you have to press the on/off switch twice, to switch from normal lamp to the LEDs and the LED beam is better focused, producing a smaller, more concentrated spot of light, than the normal lamp. All in all, I'm very happy with the flashlight, which gets a lot more use than my other models, simply because of the convenience and performance in a relatively small package.

I've used quite a few flashlights in my time, including a good number of Maglites. I'm not a flashlight guru, but I'm pretty particular about things working well, and the this little 3-cell AA flashlight from Streamlight is simply fantastic. The dual feature of Xenon/LED lights alone make it exceptional, but add to that terrific battery life, a really well designed and rugged exterior, and a an excellent reflector and you've got a grade-A flashlight. My wife and I used two of these on a recent vacation to the Big Island of Hawaii which included a mile long hike across rough lava to a lava viewing site, the return trip of which was in near pitch-blackness. It felt great having such a wide, clear beam of light that was so bright it literally helped the people all around us, not just ourselves. We even got a few compliments on the flashlights!
This is a great flashlight. Get yourself one if you need a light weight unit with excellent brightness.

The Xenon bulb illuminates less than the LED bulb, and the two function botton is uncomfortable. Also, this flashlight is a bit long.
