The versatile Streamlight Twin-Task 3C UV flashlight includes an ultra-bright xenon bulb plus six ultraviolet LEDs for UV detection of fraudulent documents, forensic investigations, and for detecting engine and HVAC leaks. Powered by three C-size batteries (not included), you'll get up to 5 hours of run time when using the xenon bulb, up to 160 hours when using three LEDs, and up to 100 hours of use with the full complement of six LEDs. The xenon bulb has a light output of 57 lumens. This matte titanium model includes six 390-nm ultraviolet LEDs.

Constructed from anodized machined aluminum alloy, the durable Twin-Task is both corrosion and water resistant (IPX4 rating). Other features include an O-ring seal, unbreakable polycarbonate lens, pushbutton head switch, enhanced knurled grip for easy handling, and adjustable focus when using the xenon bulb. It measures 9.02 inches long, and it has a 1.26-inch body diameter (1.68 inches at the head). This Twin-Task 3C weighs 1 pound when loaded with batteries.

Is Ultraviolet Light Safe?

The wavelength used in Streamlight's UV lights, known as long wave ultraviolet light, is completely safe under normal use. In extremely high amounts, however, it can be harmful when exposed directly to the eye or the skin.

Warranty

This flashlight is warranted to be free of defect for a lifetime of use. Streamlight will repair, replace or refund the purchase price, at its option, of any Streamlight product that does not work or that you manage to break for as long as you own it. This limited lifetime warranty excludes abuse and batteries.

Solid and inexpensive for fluorescing scorpions. Specimens resolve quite nicely at the wavelength this unit emits. I've noticed that other substances (food, bodily fluid) doesn't fluoresce as say, a tube would. But if you need a combination UV/standard flashlight for indoor or outdoor close-quarter use, this gets the job done.

Be it the armchair investigator in me or the fun of having an easily portable blacklight the truth is I bought this flashlight, not because I needed a good flashlight, but because I wanted it for the novelty. What I got was a versatile and useful tool. Light weight for it's size this flashlight is durable. It has a strong beam on it and the UV is a nice bit of fun as well. Truthfully, unless you are a CSI or a neat freak, you probably don't need the UV feature of this flashlight...but it doesn't hurt. It's useful and worth the price, especially if you can catch it on sale.
