4.0 out of 5 stars Scorpion Fluorescing
Solid and inexpensive for fluorescing scorpions. Specimens resolve quite nicely at the wavelength this unit emits. I've noticed that other substances (food, bodily fluid) doesn't fluoresce as say, a tube would. But if you need a combination UV/standard flashlight for indoor or outdoor close-quarter use, this gets the job done.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice flashlight... Questionable Blacklight
I guess you can't expect one product to do it all can you. This works great as an everyday flashlight but isn't that great in the blacklight department. It was picky on what it would pick up. We also had a cheap blacklight that would pick up more than this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the wannabe CSI in all of us., October 29, 2007

Be it the armchair investigator in me or the fun of having an easily portable blacklight the truth is I bought this flashlight, not because I needed a good flashlight, but because I wanted it for the novelty. What I got was a versatile and useful tool. Light weight for it's size this flashlight is durable. It has a strong beam on it and the UV is a nice bit of fun as well. Truthfully, unless you are a CSI or a neat freak, you probably don't need the UV feature of this flashlight...but it doesn't hurt. It's useful and worth the price, especially if you can catch it on sale.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well Built Flashlight, September 26, 2008

Within the first 10 minutes of use, my son accidentally dropped the unit on the tile floor. No damage - no marks. Outstanding. As a flashlight, this baby puts out a strong adjustable beam. The UV light is marginally adequate. Overall, a well built flashlight that should last for many years.

Don't buy this if you don't want to see how awful your carpets really look. You can really see what you can't see! There are three stages, one click and you get a dim UV light, two click and you get a stronger UV light and three clicks and you get a very strong regular flashlight. The unit is not very heavy, I expected it to be a little heavier; but it is solid and feels good in my hand. I keep it by my bed and use it for everything (if I drop something small and can't find it, I'm trying to get a stain out and what to really see it, or just for a good regular flashlight). I just love it and I'm going to buy them for Xmas gifts this year.

2.0 out of 5 stars 3C UV Light by Streamlight, October 28, 2008

Fairly nice light but too bulky and the Xenon bulb is not as good as the new K2 L.E.D.'s out there, I sold mine and purchased an Element K2 at Sams Club a 2 pack for $24.95 and bought a separate UV light and I am much happier, the 4 L.E.D UV I purchased is brighter than the 3C UV streamlight and batteries are more common for rechargeables AAA.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, June 18, 2008

This is the absolute best flash light I have used. Its built well and the weight of the flashlight is perfect. I use all 3 settings on the flash light. The normal light setting is great and powerful - I use all the time to take my dog for a walk. Also, use the UV light on occassion to search for unwanted scorpions, although I have not found any yet. I think its an overall good flashlight to have around the house.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Flashlight, June 12, 2008
This review is from: Streamlight 51018 Twin-Task 3C 9-Inch UV Flashlight, Titanium (Tools & Home Improvement)
This Streamlight flashlight is by far the coolest and most unique flashlight I own. The UV mode is really neat; it feels like this flashlight allows you to see into another world. It's excellent for checking your bathroom or kitchen for any invisible spills. It seems like something you'd see crime scene investigators using on TV. The Xenon mode is very bright too. The flashlight itself is very tough and the casing is beautifully designed. Plus, it looks like a light saber.

5.0 out of 5 stars Durable Multi-Use Flashlight, September 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Streamlight 51018 Twin-Task 3C 9-Inch UV Flashlight, Titanium (Tools & Home Improvement)
After having this for a few months, it has turned into more of a multi-tasker than I had originally anticipated. It's a very well-made, solid flashlight, not unlike a MagLite. I have yet to replace the batteries after 2 months of regular use because of the high-output, low wattage LEDs that make up the UV light element. I initially bought the flashlight solely for scorpion control in the backyard, but on my way out of the house noticed food stains on the counter and food stains on the dogs' placemats that didn't quite get cleaned as I'd like, so I took care of those as well. (It's a handy tool for all you budding or full-scale middle-of-the-night OCD cleaners) Outside, because of street lamps, I was not able to effectively use the low-UV setting to get scorpions to fluoresce, but the high setting works well, even in light polluted areas. The regular flashlight settings give off a very bright beam of standard blue/white xenon light that is comparable to a halogen-strength bulb. It is no longer in my drawer of single-task garage goodies, but doing duty as one of our emergency backup flashlights as well. Great product at a great price!
