High Quality Slim Penlight,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Streamlight 65012 Stylus 6-1/4-Inch Penlight with Pocket Clip and White LED, Silver (Tools & Home Improvement)
I use this penlight everyday at work. This light is very bright. This is a great neuro assessment tool. Use it like a pen to check your patient's Babinski reflex. Great for checking your patient's pupils. Use it length-wise on your patient's nailbeds to check for response to light pain.
Additionally if you work long nights like I do, this is a great tool to check on your patients without turning on the lights unnecessarily. I use this to check foley and chest tube output in the dark. Are you in the ER? Have a psych patient sleeping that you need to check on? Shine this high intensity low spread light on your patient's chest all the way from the door to observe the rise and fall of their chest without waking them up. This would make a great gift to a new RN grad. Looks professional. Not bulky like some other penlights I've seen. Clip ensures it won't fall out of your scrub pocket.

Green With UV,
By Jake FOGERTY (British Columbia, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Streamlight 65069 Stylus 6-1/4-Inch Penlight with Pocket Clip and UV LED, Black (Tools & Home Improvement)
I picked this puppy up yesterday from a shop called MD Charlton. This is my second Streamlight product that I've purchased within the last few weeks. The first one (Streamlight 51010 Twin-Task UV flashlight) I bought through Amazon.com because they had the best price and availability.
Here is the reason as to why I ended up buying the UV penlight, even though my other torch is equipped with a black-light. I have recently begun collecting, uranium depression glass. I needed a discreet UV light, when I visit the secondhand stores. I don't want to appear silly or suspicious to the shop owners and the customers, when I aim the light at various glassware! This is the only way you can distinguish if it is in fact the collectible item I am seeking. It is quite the sight when you do find the depression glass. It glows a neat frosty greenish colour because the uranium in the composition of the glass, absorbs the UV rays. So far I've scored a liquor decanter ($3.99) and a candlestick holder ($1.49). Google the said glass and you will see for yourself how it appears when you throw the black-light on it. Beware, that there are a number of incorrect reviews regarding this item. The not so swift reviewers are referring to an ordinary run of-the-mill LED flashlight. If you use this UV light as some have suggested, you will cause permanent damage to the eyes.

Handy little light,

This review is from: Streamlight 65012 Stylus 6-1/4-Inch Penlight with Pocket Clip and White LED, Silver (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this with the idea of replacing my battery eating incandescent pen light I have used throughout medical school. Unfortunately, as with most LEDs the light is far too "white" to accurately assess say a sore throat for erythema. It is also too bright for pupillary light reflexes. Around the house for odd and end jobs though, this puppy rocks. I rarely use my maglight these days with this light around.
