4.0 out of 5 stars Great IR pen-light
This is great for Wii hack projects. The LED is a very bright IR diode that runs on 3 AAAA batteries (that's right - quadruple A batteries) They are slightly rare which I dislike but the added slender design as a result is enjoyable. Quad-A's can be found at any Radioshack. This product is much more reliable than homemade IR pens for Wii-hacks or the ones you would...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not great for Wii interactive whiteboard
I purchased this ir led pen to use with a Wii interactive whiteboard. The pen was picked up by the remote but the design makes it impossible to use as an input device for an interactive whiteboard. I am sure it works great for the intended use, but does not work well for my intended use.

This is great for Wii hack projects. The LED is a very bright IR diode that runs on 3 AAAA batteries (that's right - quadruple A batteries) They are slightly rare which I dislike but the added slender design as a result is enjoyable. Quad-A's can be found at any Radioshack. This product is much more reliable than homemade IR pens for Wii-hacks or the ones you would find on ebay. It is designed for use with night-vision goggles. The only thing that I dislike about it is the on-off switch location. The switch is located at the very back of the device which makes it awkward for use initially; however with a little practice you stop noticing. To leave the IR LED in a continuous on position just screw the back all the way on. To use the push-button switch just unscrew it several twists from completely secure so that the pressure you apply completes the circuit connection. (This seems like an odd design but who am I to judge as long as it functions well).

4.0 out of 5 stars A sturdy IR stylus, September 20, 2009

This stylus works pretty much as expected. The attachments allow "shaping" of the IR beam which can be useful for different use situations. I have used the item as a pen with a Wii Remote Controller for creation of a virtual white board and it worked great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the best for Wii Interactive surface, April 5, 2009
I purchased this pen to use with my Wii Interactive Whiteboard surface. Although it worked, I found it to be clumsy and not optimal for drawing or writing because the button is at the back of the pen. I have since purchased a pen with a button on the side that makes writing and drawing MUCH easier.
