the red/blue plastic lens is held by a steel ring which in turn is held by 5 clips ("ears"). The problem is with this "ears", it breaks easily. In fact when it arrived and flip open the lens one of the "ears" fell out.
When I cleaned the lens of fingerprints another "ear" broke. Now my red lens have 3 ears out of 5 left and the ring keeps loosening and falling now and then. The blue lens had one "ear" fallout and I have not been using it so its more or less intact. Anyway, I solved the problem with Super Glue! now what would the world do with out super glue!?
Aside from this problem of brittleness on the clips/ears the item is very nice. In fact i have it attached all the time on my Scorpion. I wish I had also purchased the green one.
One note about this filter is....the diameter is slightly larger, but one circle of electrical tape took care of that.
Cons: Much sharper drop in light intensity/brightness than expected 500 lumen to ???
Bulky unless light is mounted, seems fragile when opened, pops open entirely too easy (not sure I would trust an infrared version in fear of accidental opening and damage to IR tubes) Would Not advise used on a light intended for pocket carry.
I do recommend, however, that you dedicate this lens to a specific flashlight rather than keeping it separate from your light, "just in case". It fits snug, and would be cumbersome to deploy if you needed red-filtered light immediately and did not already have it installed.
I have this lens on a standard Streamlight Strion LED in my cargo pocket on duty. My primary light is another Streamlight Strion (HL) without the filter.
Finally, the hinge on the filter is spring-loaded, so if you need to go from filtered to unfiltered quickly, it's just a matter of flicking your thumb. It easily snaps back into place when you want it.

This is a great concept, but the functionality falls short. I used this product for one week with light use before the lens cap starred flipping up on its own. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Amazon Customer
