Streamlight 2L Luxeon 3W, definitely a winner!,

This review is from: Streamlight 2L Luxeon LED Task Flashlight #51008 (Tools & Home Improvement)
I had a bunch of Streamlight tactical flashlights before, the Scorpion, which put out a lot of light using a Xenon bulb. I know many police and even the Secret Service uses the Scorpions but the drawback of Scorpion is that the 2 3V CR123 batteries don't last more than an hour and the Scorpion generates a lot, I mean a lot of heat and the Xenon bulb doesn't last very long due to the extreme heat it creates. When I switched over to the 2L Luxeon 3W LED, it has almost the same brightness of the Scorpion and the white LED makes everything looks better. The colour temperature of almost daylight makes the LED a better choice. The 2 3V CR123 last a little longer which helps your pocket book and the beam pattern is very similiar to the Scorpion. The heat the LED generates however is not that great, it gets hot and almost as hot as the Scorpion. My family uses 2 2L Luxeon 3W LEDs for walking every night and within 15 minutes in the Summer, they get pretty hot. When Winter comes, it keeps your hand warm though. Overall, the 2L Luxeon 3W LED is a great flashlight, I highly recommend it to everyone. Pricey but worth every dollar!

This flashlight feels good to hold, feels nice and solid. The switch also has a good feel to it, nothing flimsy or flaky about any of it. I like the 2 brightness levels, it does come in handy to save battery life when I don't need full brightness or when I don't want to light up the whole woods and alert other people of my presence. This is my second 3W flashlight; my other one is a Gerber and the switch on that was so flaky as to make it nearly unusable. So, it was a pleasure to get the Streamlight.I'm a flashlight fanatic and have dozens; the Streamlight is my favorite of all of them. Probably only Surefire would surpass this in quality (but those are very expensive).

3W is Hot! (Rhymes),
This review is from: Streamlight 2L Luxeon LED Task Flashlight #51008 (Tools & Home Improvement)
Solid, well-built super bright! I own Streamlight and Surefire, and frankly don't get what all the frenzy over Surefire is about...both brands are trusted by Professionals, and Streamlight is way more affordable. Both carry lifetime guarantees. This 3W task light throws an incredible beam and lasts a long time...if size isn't an issue, don't see what you can purchase for $60 that's even close - and yes, a L2 from Surefire has a 100 lumen 5W, but only lasts an hour. The low settings are actually a bit brighter on the Streamlight.
