The Best Lean Supply Chain book around,
By Un Client "Un Client" (France) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Streamlined: 14 Principles for Building & Managing the Lean Supply Chain (Hardcover)
I've been reading a fair number of these over the past few months. Maybe it"s because I'm finally beginning to understand, but this most recent read is definitely the most complete, straightforward and readable analysis of the application of Lean to Supply Chain Management that I have come across.
And this is a European speaking!!

Excellent textbook for an advanced undergarduate course as well as MBA courses,
This review is from: Streamlined: 14 Principles for Building & Managing the Lean Supply Chain (Hardcover)
I have adopted "streamlined" for an advanced topics in management course on lean supply chains. The challenge of finding a book that goes beyond the abstract concepts to more detailed and parctical steps for implementation has been greatly alleviated by "streamlined." Dr. Srinivasan provides the reader and the student in particular with a very well thought out and written text. My students' initial worries about the rigor and difficulty of the subject matter were quickly mitigated after reading the first few chapters.
The 14 principles provided me, the professor, an organizing framework for the delivery of the course, the assignments and the term project. The students and myself found "streamlined" to be very interesting, thought proviking, and useful. This book is a must-read for any faculty member regardless of their discipline as the topics covered cut across all functional areas of business and provide a much-needed integrative approach.

Non-profit managers can benefit from Streamlined,
By Timothy "Say something about yourself!" (Chattanooga, TN, United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Streamlined: 14 Principles for Building & Managing the Lean Supply Chain (Hardcover)
What does Lean supply chain management have to do with service delivery in the non-profit sector? On the surface, not very much; however, as non-profit managers seek new ways to extract value from ever-thinning revenue streams and to improve social returns on charitable dollars invested in their organizations, perhaps they should take a closer look at Dr. Srinivasan's Streamlined. Given the complex nature of transactions in service industries compared to manufacturing, the principles discussed in this book - from systems theory and theory of constraint to variation and throughput - should be of increased interest to its managers; especially if they happen to exist in the non-profit sector (where these complexities are amplified). Streamlined has been indispensable to me and my staff in analyzing several persistent problems, including a decline in participation in our programs that has menaced us for more than four quarters. This easy to understand and practical book has helped us understand how we were working against ourselves and how we could improve our processes and increase participation - a quick and easy solution that worked . Speaking form the perspective of a non-profit manager who has nothing to waste, Dr. Srinivasan's book is a must read for any of my colleagues who take seriously their responsibility to squeeze as much value from their benefactors' goodwill as possible.

Excellent Supply Chain Book for Managers and MBA Courses,
By Stuart Cooper (Knoxville, TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Streamlined: 14 Principles for Building & Managing the Lean Supply Chain (Hardcover)
This book communicates the principles of Lean very effectively, introducing the topic of "Lean" to those unfamiliar with it, as well as educating Lean experts on aspects of Lean that may be new to them. Coming from a sales background, and having no former supply chain experience, I found parts of the book extremely easy to read and understandable. I would recommend "Streamlined" to managers wishing to implement Lean as well as professors desiring to teach Lean concepts to their students. Those involved in service or manufacturing environments will benefit greatly from this book.

VP Sales,
By Eric D (Knoxville,TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Streamlined: 14 Principles for Building & Managing the Lean Supply Chain (Hardcover)
Srini's holistic approach in addressing the supply chain made this an easy read even for someone without major lean manufacturing experience. So many times, business books only address one segment of an audience. His emphasis on synergistic application of lean principles brings home the importance of applying the lean philosophy to all layers of the organization. Too many times professionals outside the manufacturing arena feel that they have no influence on lean applications. He highlights that marketing and sales have an important role play when implementing and managing an efficient lean system. This book offers many examples and principles that can help many organizations develop a strategy for the highly competitive business world.

Crack the Bullwhip!,

This review is from: Streamlined: 14 Principles for Building & Managing the Lean Supply Chain (Hardcover)
I am the Corporate Lean Champion for a global manufacturing company. I had heard of the bullwhip effect but did not thoroughly understand it before reading "the book" as I refer to it when recommending it to my Lean students. Streamlined helped me to put a plan together utilizing rate based planning, Lean variation reduction tools, and pull protocols to Crack the Bullwhip effect and drive it out of our organization!
Streamlined is a "must read" for any Lean practitioner, operations Leader, supply chain leader ot MBA student.
