General Overview of Recent Street Culture Trends,
By Daniel Lobo (Washington, DC More often than not.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Street Art Book: 60 Artists In Their Own Words (Paperback)
For a pretty generic, uncompromised, and light volume "The Street Art Book" provides an interesting overview of some recent urban culture and street art tendencies. The book is a random collection of areas of practice from stickers to toys, murals to clothing, that will be quite familiar (and often repetitive) for those somewhat informed about these trend.
However, there are always new things to be found and If something is worth rescuing from the project is its interview format, which tries to offer the narrative of the selected creators in their own words. Much of the interviews runs on the predictable side with the odd revealing nugget, but as a whole they begins to build up a more complex narrative, highlighting contradictions, trends, and different ways of interpreting creative activity.

This is a great book and used for class presentations. Great pictures and good explanations of the difference between street art, graffiti and murals.
Delivery was a bit slow, but I would buy from seller again, if they have what I need. |
