As a rough guide for law enforcement officers who need to recognize the appearance of drugs or symptoms of abuse, this holds some small value, but for anyone interested in learning about the drugs themselves, stay clear.

Much of the information regarding the effects of the drugs and their addictive qualities is either misleading or just incorrect. Any quick Google search would debunk half of this book.

As can be expected of a law enforcement officer, this book was written with an obvious bias towards drugs and views cracking down on users as the best method for winning the war. Understandable, but misleading, so take anything there with a reasonable grain of salt.

As stated before, this does contain some useful information, but certainly not at this asking price. Do a Google search, read up on the stuff, and you'll be just as if not better off than this guide.

Little so is eaay to carry around

I purchased this as a reference guide for my addictions class. By the end of the semester, several classmates were saying they either had or planned to order a copy, too. Savelli has written a great litle reference, small enough to pack around, but filled with a LOT of valuable information and images. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who plans to work in substance abuse, police or investigations work, or other social helping fields where quick, easy access to drug information might come in handy. It may not cover everything, but it definitely hits the major drugs on the streets today, and the descriptions of appearance, odor, paraphrenalia used, street values (and more!) are well worth the price of this book. Another great perk - the price is very affordable for the amount of information you'll find here!

Lou is a real deal cop. He has been out there and knows his stuff. He is an expert on gangs, drugs and street survival. I recommend anything he puts out.
