2.0 out of 5 stars Real Street and No Beats
I don't know why anybody is giving this more than 3 stars??? Yes he can spit pure fire, but with the weak ass beats behind every song how can you enjoy this at all. Also what's with the Yo, yo yo yo yo before he spits on each cut???I am a old Wu Head and I always give Wu family a chance to shine but this was too much. Trust me when I say he is better off doing guest spots...

3.0 out of 5 stars The Curse of the RZA, January 5, 2007
This review is from: Street Education (Audio CD)
(I gotta admit, I was thirsty to hear this cat since Method's Man Tical album. 7 years later, he dropped a CD and "WHA HAPPENED!!". Lyrically, Streetlife is a beast, but he has better songs up in mix tapes. "Can't Stop, Won't Stop", the first CD has beats that don't fit him. And that's the main problem of this CD is that most of the beats don't really fit his rap style. Method was up in 3 of his songs, Insptectak Deck was on one and Killa Sin was on another. The main problem was "Where's RZA?". Streetlife had a slew of producers through his entire CD, but not one was by RZA. That's a thing that's going on with Wu-Tang. The farther they go from RZA's productions, the more mondane the CD quality becomes.)

3.0 out of 5 stars disappointed, January 10, 2007
This review is from: Street Education (Audio CD)
I agree with apollo on this one. I was expecting streetlife's album to bring back the wu-feel to hip-hop. though his flows surpass many mc's, the beats are horrible. As a longtime wu fan, I am still waiting for a wu-solo album to impress me. I havent been impressed since the first round of solo releases. Though other later albums were good, they weren't classics. All in all if you want a good RECENT wu album, go with the dreddy kruger album.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ouch, July 31, 2006

Man, Streetlife was the bomb on Method Man's albums. Naturally I assumed that a full CD of Streetlife would be hip-hop bliss.

Its more like hip-hop *iss. I agree with a few of the previous reviews by others here in that the the lyrics are good, but the majority of the music is just flat and boring.

There are three good songs:

Cant Stop, Wont Stop

Descriptions

Shoot on Sight

I expected more and I expected better considering the talent that Streetlife is. Three hits out of 15 tracks is not going to cut it.

Not only do I want my money back, but I want the time back that I spent trying to fell this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid, But Nothing Outstanding (3 Stars), December 7, 2005
This review is from: Street Education (Audio CD)
I have to go with DXL on this one. Anyone giving this more than 3 stars must have a bootleg version with remixed songs on it. The beats on this album are way too drowsy. I had trouble staying awake while I was listening to it. Not only that, there are a few tracks where Street's flow seems to disappear like on "Hung These Streets". Tracks like "All My N*ggas", "Street Education", "Who Want To Rap", and "Lay Down" are beyond boring. And "Thugz Need Love Too" is just plain awful. I definitely wouldn't suggest playing this album while operating heavy machinary. And it's sad because after hearing Street on so many other Wu Tang tracks I was expecting so much more.

There are a few decent tracks that keep this album from being a total waste, but they're vastly outnumbered by the not-so-decent/boring tracks. "Let Them Come" is decent. I liked "Descriptions", "F.A.N.Z." is cool, and "A Star Is Born" is pretty good if you can get past the elementary hook (supplied by Rebel INS). Outside of those few tracks, there's not much here that's worth mentioning.

Anyone with any familiarity with Streetlife or Wu Tang background know good and well that Street is capable of so much more than this. There's no questioning his lyrical abilities, we all know he can spit flames. When I listen to this album, I just get a vibe like the effort was halfhearted -- and the result is a half assed LP. If you're not a Wu Tang completist, then I'd have to recommend passing on this one.

Standout Tracks: Let Them Come, Descriptions feat. Why, F.A.N.Z., and A Star Is Born feat. Inspectah Deck

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent debut after a long time Coming, June 26, 2005
By
This review is from: Street Education (Audio CD)
After being heard on Wu related material for over 10 years Street Life finally dropped his solo debut. As always his flow is on point and he tears it down on a few of these tracks. Of the 15 songs on here, around half are only 2 verses and under 3 minutes long. Guests rap on 4 of the songs so you do get a good deal of Street Life. It has 5 ok songs and the other 10 are good. Production is prettygood on most of the songs. Fantom of the Beats does 4, Mathematics does 3, Sector5 does 2, and Rockwilder, Inspectah Deck, Now & Laterz, Hitman, Alowe, China Clack all do 1 song. A good album to have for fans of his or fans of Wu-like material.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Wu-Tang Clan Rebirth??? It's looks like to me, October 20, 2007
By
Yo, I must say that some time ago I've stopped to follow new Wu-Tang relases. All the wack things that ware dropped by Reakwon, Method Man, not mention Rza lerned me that the era of Wu-Tang has passed and will never came back. Than I've heard Genious' return which was quite good LP comparing it to all the wack ish is being relased now.

I bought this CD simply because it was cheap and I was a bit kurious.

First of all, dont the big Method Man logo fool ya because Meth does not drop any vers on this LP!!! It's only marketing thing.

After few listenings of this LP I can say that it's dope thing among all 50c-type ish. What defines a good beat in my opinion is the number of sounds can be heard during the track. If you can count them on one hand's fingers is wack + something should been playing through all the time, some sound should be heard in each second of the track. And this album is like that. Good beats, good samples, unfortunately lack of scratches but it's fine anyway.

First 4 tracks are simply dope, my favorite is "All My N***as" with great strong and simple beat...this is what the PLO Style is about! Featuirng with Rebel INS is also worth to mention. "Descriptions" got good, old school, well known sample, it's good. Nest (8) track is a bit monothony for me. "Who Want To Rap" is also dope, I wish the production was without the "lady" mixed voices during the track...it's so used idea. Number 10 is really off the hook! This is the Wu-Tang ish that I could compare to Buddha Monk production. Good bass line, nice loop. PLO Style again! Only one thing I don't like in this track is the chours, it sounds a bit artificial for me and if I ware to choose I'd put there lot of scratches with the refrain words instead. But this track is my favorite anyway. Next is dope, number 12 and 13 are cool too. At the end "Shoot On Sight" is the third favorite of mine mainly because of good bass line, strong beat. The same is with the last song "So Calm".

So, this LP is really good, I would recommend it to any Wu-Tang fan as well as to any other listener of rap muzik. Listening to it I began to have a hope. Definately more good or very good tracks than the weacker ones. Strong 4 stars like 4 mics on The Source. Could be 5 but 2 things that this album lack of are: Scratches and Mehtod Man..than would be 5.

If you like Tical 2000, Wu-Tang Forever, you should grab it definately!

4.0 out of 5 stars Streetlife - Street Education, April 21, 2006
This review is from: Street Education (Audio CD)
Why all the hate for the album? A lot of true WU heads didnt really think this album was all good n sh**. Streetlife doesnt really bring the "WU" sound MUCH, but this cat is a good emcee. Im really feeling his whole style, and DEFINATELY his flow, that sh** is clean. This album isnt classic material, but its really good, so 4 stars is what I give it. Let me first explain the production, really good, I think it could of had a tad bit better beats on it, but they are really sick, and fit the style of Streetlife perfectly. "F.A.N.Z" has one of the illest beats ever. The production is by a few different producers. "Inspectah Deck" produces the song "A Star Is Born" etc. Anyways, away from that, the lyrics. Streetlife isnt one of the best lyricists out in the game, but is he better than mainstream cats out? Definately. His rhymes are on topic, and of course on point. He doesnt really take topics, and focus into them REALLY deeply, but he covers them in 2 verses pretty much. Most of the verses on the album, only got 2 verses lol, kinda sucks but still good. One weird thing about the album, is that EACH song starts at LEASt 3 to 6 seconds into the song, but oh well haha.

If you want a good Hip Hop album, check this out! Youll like it!

My Top 5 Songs

1.Cant Stop Wont Stop

2.F.A.N.Z

3.Lay Down

4.Let Them Come

5.Shoot On Sight (SOS)

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Street Education (Audio CD)
This is a good album this guy can spit that fire that the old wu tang had and then some. He is way better then Method Man right now. I like every song on here and this rap at its true form because here is someone that does not get much attention from fans but still manages to go gold without that much advertisements so this guy will be the next hardcore rap man. Anyways buy this album it is defiently worth every penny.
