5.0 out of 5 stars Currently the best fighter out there.
If your one of those people who refuse to buy 2-D games simply because they are 2-D, then do not buy this game. Go buy Tekken 3 or something like that. But if your actually looking for fighter because of its gameplay, then read on. Street Fighter Alpha 3 simply, at this point (Nov., 1999), has no other competition in the fighting world. 3.0 out of 5 stars Did like this game
I use to like this game alot when it came out. But, after trying out Street fighter 3: third strike. This game is for the original fans of the alpha series. The cool thing is now you get to choose a variation types of super styles. More modes making fun to play than the arcade. The weirdest but could be cool is the mode where you can already fight bison(vega) mode. If you...

With more modes than you can count, and almost every character in Street Fighter history, it has no equal. The controls are easy to learn so your little brother (who has never played) can pick it up and still beat the stuffing out of you. The good thing is though, that only someone who takes the time to learn the moves will be able to perform the game's harder moves. In order to learn some of the super combos a lot of practice is needed. Also included is a story mode. This mode basically allows you to unlock various other modes while building up your character. A true master will beat this mode entirely while a newcomer won't get that far. But don't let that turn off you newcomers. This game is not hard to learn, just don't expect to pick it up and beat the entire story mode. Practice, practice, practice. Overall, if you are looking for a challenge, then buy this game. If you are a Street Fighter fan buy this game. If you are tired of 3-D buy this game. If you have never played a fighter in your life but you think you want one, buy this game. In closing, BUY THIS GAME!

5.0 out of 5 stars Look out non stop action, here I come!!!!, March 24, 2002

If you are lookig for a reasonably priced fighting game for the dreamcast then Street fighter alpha 3 is definately for you. With over 30 plus characters it may very well be one of the widest selections on the market. There are tons of modes to play and with world tour mode you can pick a fighter and build their strengths to your liking. The only downside is that some peoples moves require all three punch buttons to be used at the same time, and with the awkward shape of the dreamcast controller that might be quite a challenge in it's own right. But with a little bit of practice you will hardly notice it. This game is a must buy to street fighter fans

5.0 out of 5 stars Best SF to date, July 5, 2000

Certain games, as good as they may be, can get boring quite fast. We've seen this with Pocket Fighter and Street Fighter Alpha 2. But Street Fighter Alpha 3 is different. You can't get bored of this. First of all, over 30 characters! Classics like Ryu, Chun Li, Bison, Zangief, and even returning characters like Cammy, Vega, Blanka and Guile. Not only that, but great new characters: Karin Kanzuki, Sakura's arch rival. Cody, star of the original final fight. R. Mika, a bizarre wrestler. Plus Juni and Juli, mysterious workers for Bison, and rivals of Cammy. Secondly, every character has 3 fighting styles, with different styles and moves. And two adventure modes, the original arcade/story mode, and a world tour mode, where you can build a fighter increasing their strengths and abilities. Plus, tons of game modes like survival and dramatic battle. You can't get bored of this. If you don't like Capcom fighters, you may or may not like this. Unlike many others, this game is different, and stands out among fighting games.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best 2D figher around, July 30, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Video Game)
If you're a fan of street fighter, you gotta buy Street Figher alpha 3. And if you're not a fan of Street Fighter, you still gotta buy street fighter Alpha 3. It's gotta be the best 2D fighter I'v ever played. Below, I will explain why.

-Many different modes of play including arcade, survival, and World Tour -Awesome arcade graphics -Over 30 selectable characters -Up to THREE players can battle at once

If you're looking for a 3D fighter with the best graphics, then you might want to go for Soul Calibur. But if you're looking for an awesome 2D fighter that requires skill and strategy, with endless options, you MUST buy this game. It will make a great addition to anybody's dreamcast library.

5.0 out of 5 stars This DC version is way better than the aracade version!, June 4, 2000

= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Video Game)
This version of the game in not only better than the PSX version, it's also way better than the aracde version. More characters than any other version, Balrog's animation from SSF2T has all returned (not like the ..... aracde version). The ability to chose between 3 fighting styles X, V or A. Air juggles are more friendly and moves connect way better now.

Tons of modes of play! World Tour Mode awards you by giving upgrades to your character which you can later import in most other modes. Dramatic mode let's you team up 2 against 1 (If you think your a great fighter, challenge two of your friends to spare against you at the same time!)

As for people who don't like 2-D graphics. 2-D fighters are not the same as 3-D fighters, 2-D doesn't mean it's dated, ugly or bad. 2-D is diffrent, it brings you as close as to an anime cartoon and I personnaly find the characters in 2-D Capcom games tend to have 10 times more personnality than any stone cold polygonal 3-D characters.

This game is is the last of the Alpha series and it's the best overall fighter from Dreamcast

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best groundbreaking Capcom fighters ever !, June 5, 2001
This review is from: Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Video Game)
Like I said, I've played a lot of Street Fighter games in several arcades and I'm truly amazed with each and every one of them (except for some of the Street Fighter EX series). Street Fighter Alpha 1 and 2 were excellent games and they sold well in the console market. Street Fighter Alpha 3 improved over all of the Street Fighter games when it first came to the Arcade and PlayStation. When the Dreamcast came out, I had second thoughts about the PlayStation version. I have no problem with the PlayStation version, but the only thing I hated about it was the loading times. On the superior Dreamcast version, there are absolutely no loading times in this one. The graphics moved at a solid framerate, the gameplay still remained solid, and for the first time ever, you can duke it out with people from around the world using online play ! This is the first Street Fighter game to ever achieve and online play feature. Remember that sorry excuse for a Street Fighter, Dan Hibiki ? Well his Shinku Gadouken can go faster and farther (but stops at a certain point) and now it looks bigger than before ! You get to play as several characters like Evil Ryu, Fei Long (the Bruce Lee look-alike), T. Hawk, E. Honda, Ken, Chun Li, Ryu, Charlie, Blanka, Rainbow Mika, Gen, and more ! Wanna add a Street Fighter game in your Dreamcast library ? Get this one !

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best 2D Fighting Games on the market, June 8, 2000

= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Video Game)
My friends and I review games, and have been doing it for about 9 years, and I have played ---=hundreds=--- of games, and this game is like the perfect 2D fighting game, and on a total 2D-3D list, it's still ranked quite high. The only reason the graphics look old is because they're flat, but that's the point, and that's what makes it excellent. I mean, what I really look for is fun and fair looks. You have to split 3D and 2D apart and realize that all fighting games are different, and if you want 2D, 3D won't cut it. Both are great, but it you want excellent 2D, this game is IT! I would buy it for any fighting-game lover.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Gameplay, Modern Sprites, June 2, 2000

Older gamers who appreciate well-balanced and addictive fighting action will feel right at home. Younger people with short attention spans and "style over substance" tendencies should stay away. That's not to say, of course, that the graphics are lacking in any sense. Sprite animation is fluid (almost on par with Guilty Gear X), the backgrounds are intricate and colorful, and special moves deliver enough eye-candy to please most viewers. But where this game really shines is in its classic Capcom feel. If you've ever used Ryu to throw a fireball, you'll be instantly comfortable with the control scheme. If you haven't, you'll pick it up in no time. And talk about options! This game has too many different play modes to list. Buy this game and Third Strike (or Double Impact) IMMEDIATELY.
