A Kid's Review
This review is from: Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Video Game)
Street Fighter Alpha 3 saw delay after delay. After awhile, I got tired of waiting and tried other games. When I saw this game at the store, I got it for myself as a Christmas present. This game is worth the wait. All the famous Street Fighter characters are here, with their signature moves, like hadoken and shoryuken. The characters are full of animation, surprising for such many characters. The game's only downside is that some combos like Akuma's Messatsu Gao Hado are very difficult to pull off. Other than that, this is a great fighting game. GBA owners with a taste for fighting should definitely try out Street Fighter Alpha 3.

The graphics, amount of characters and special moves, amount of fighting options, and sheer quality of this fighting game is borderline crazy. You get so much for a portable game thats two inches square.
Having Street Fighter with over 30 characters for on the go is awesome. You cant ask for anything more... well you kind of could. The only thing that stinks in this game, and its a big stinker, is the control. On a console controller or in the arcade i could bust out 50 fireballs in a row without a sweat. This game is a different story. The small size of the GBA/DS makes performing these special moves extremely tough. After 10 minutes of this game i feel like i need Bengay or some cream from the arthritis that this game is giving my fingers and hands. ;) All in all this is a terrific title for short periods of time even though the control of some of the moves are painful to pull off.

After delay, and delay, and delay, I really wasn't looking forward to the GBA conversion of Street Fighter Alpha 3 and I was dreading to see how it would play, but I was pleasently surprised. Nearly every aspect of it's arcade, PS1, and Dreamcast counterpart is here with a few minor tweaks, and fighting game fans who own a GBA will find something to love with this game. The characters are a bit smaller but are still fluidly animated and look surprisingly good on the small GBA screen while the soundbits are good as well. The game's biggest flaw is the control scheme (as expected) and it will take quite a bit of time for Street Fighter veterans to get used to the GBA's button layout. Special moves are a bit harder to pull off, while the super moves require even more patience to learn due to the control layout, but once they are learned they will get easier and easier to pull off. All in all, with the lineup of fighting games on the GBA, Street Fighter Alpha 3 only pales in comparison to Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo Revival, but Street Fighter fans who own a GBA should definitely give this a try.
