The graphics are colorful and more detailed than you would expect from a Game Boy game; the characters in their signature costumes are especially well drawn and animated. Varied fighting environments also reflect the geographic locations of the battle, including Hong Kong and Tibet.
Street Fighter Alpha's gameplay, which is surprisingly solid considering the Game Boy only has two buttons, is fairly fluid. (The original game required six buttons for basic control and special moves.) Speaking of special moves, Street Fighter Alpha has plenty. With the right button and control combination, you'll master Ryu's dragon punch and other dangerous stunts. There are even supercombos you can discover--if you are up for the challenge. --Robb Guido

I remember the good old days of Street Fighter 2. Im fifteen now, and I was in the second/third grade when Street Figher 2 CE first hit the local 7-11. I still remember tales of Blue Blanka. I tried to avoid this and the good ol days of Street Fighter 2 and beyond when playing this game so I have to say this simply:Pluses *Good Control for the most part, but you could sometimes screw up a jab with a fierce and vice-versa *Great Translation in characters! All of the super-combos are here, and all of the special moves and most of the original moves. All the minute details are in tact, such as Ryu's fierce knockdown fireball, to Kens flaming dragon punch. Negatives *You should ONLY BUY THIS GAME IF YOU ARE A SF VET! Newbies should play one of the playstation versions before he tries out the portable version *Street Fighter was clearly made for two player, and the absence of it dropped the score by a point. MAJOR DISSAPOINTMENT. *Awful sound! *Set story lines, in the fact you will ALWAYS PLAY THE SAME PEOPLE WITH CERTAIN CHARACTERS. This leads to less depth, less challange, and worst of all boredome Bottom line: If you are a street fighter lover and veteran, you might somewhat appreciate this game, and find that there will DEFINITELY BE A SF ALPHA 2 comming out so wait for it and save your cash. I gave it an average score only on the fact that everything is still in tact except for two player, which is a HUGE ABSENCE. Wait for Alpha 2.

It was time that a solid portable fighting game made it's way in America. But Street Fighter Alpha don't have much competition, and the only wanabee competitor is X-Men M.A. (that game really sucks). All in all, Street' is a good looking fighter with great gameplay. It is very much like the original version, but the only complaint I have is that the sounds effects could have been so much better...oh yeah it don't have the link cable feature either...

This is one of the best game I owned so afr. it has excellent graphics and the moves are not difficult to excute at all, especially Akuma's utlimate super combo. the only flaw it has it that the hiddent characters such as akuma, m.bison, and dan are chosen randomly, there is a sort of pattern, but there are no codes for choosing them.
