3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best SF game i've played...
When I first rented it, I thought it would kick butt like Alpha 3. Boy was i wrong. Not only do the graphics stink, But they've introduced a NEW Ryu clone, Allen. Allen sounds like Elmer Fudd, and has no personality. Buy or rent? Rent first, then IF you like it, buy.

From all the fighting video games around Street Fighter has always been the mother of all. From it's beginning it has been a game who deserves admiration and if it did good as a 2D game it did way better as 3D.This game gives us the opportunity to enjoy SF even more with a lot new things such as great graphic, combos that will blow your mind, lots of new options and lots of characters to chose from.It brings us a whole new SF with the same stuffs we like.Old characters in their 3D version which is just perfect and a whole new cast all with their uniques techniques. This game has new options never seen before in any other SF game. The arcade, versus,Team, ect, modes are all new and better. This game offers you a great deal of exitement as you spend more time playing it.By far,one of the most revolutionary and why not controversial among fans from all the SF games.Buy it,play it for 2 or 4 hours and I guarantee you this game got nothing to envy other SF games.

5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY, Street Fighter joins the 3D Arena..., December 15, 1999

= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha (Video Game)
When the first Street Fighter 2 was released on Super Nintendo almost 10 years ago, my roommate and I played it about 8 or 9 hours per day for close to a month! Street Fighter Alpha EX has the SAME charm and excitement as that first release--simple to learn (even beginning gamers can get the hang of it quickly) but complex enough to keep your interest for months. I've always liked the style of movement in the Street Fighter series and this version (although recreated in a 3D environment) keeps the same "feel." Graphically, it looks very much like the original except 3D. The programmers did an excellent job of rendering characters and backgrounds that hold the original's vibe. The only negative thing I could say about the game is that the 3D rendering engine is a little bit behind the times when compared to some of the most recent 3D fighting games... And I wish that there was a straight forward method to selecting the background (arena) without using cheats. Overall, it is probably the funnest fighting game I've bought this year (1999). Hats off to Capcom for updating a classic without ruining it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Old School SF Game-but woefully underrated, July 23, 2004
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha (Video Game)
Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha is an update of the original arcade game, Street Fighter EX, which had weaker graphics, fewer characters, and of course no extras, being an arcade game. The arcade version of this game shared the same problem, but the PS version is probably one of the more addictive fighting games I've played. At first glance the game is simple and reasonably easy to defeat on normal difficulty level. The plot thickens, though, when the practice mode (where I finally learned how to do a screwdriver) is taken into account, along with the multitude of characters and hidden bosses. Admittedly, some of the new characters are pretty lame, but they all have distinct fighting techniques, timing and drawbacks. And of course, some of them are wicked cool (Doctrine Dark and Garuda come to mind). For the record, this game probably has the best rendition of M. Bison I've ever seen (he appears and sounds just the right mix of powerful and disdainful. His kick throw is still one of my favorite impossible video game throw techniques=)). Then, there's the music; I've spent many hours just listening to the inspired soundtrack. Synthesizer-dominated or not, something about it just made it stand out from the crowd (Guile's music is probably my favorite). That's not even getting into the Meteor combos, combo chaining, throw system (with specific characters), and the missions used in the training mode to teach basic and advanced Street Fighter skills. The only sore point is the graphics. This game is old, old, old! I think it came out in the late 90s, and there have since been two graphically superior sequels. Somehow, the gameplay was never the same. Ex2 took the combo thing a little too far, and three...well, let's just say that game is not my cup of tea. This is a great older game, if you can withstand the graphics, but I suspect I won't mind them too much.Props to Arika for trying something different! Especially now that Capcom has canceled the 3d Capcom Fighting All Stars...and I was so looking forward to see what they would do with Strider! Cheers...=)

5.0 out of 5 stars A fighting game that makes you think just as much as chess, January 21, 2005

This review is from: Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha (Video Game)
That's right you heard it folks. I've been playing this game on and off for years since it's arcade appearance, and I beat this game down in the arcade. I have to say it's the most entertaining 3d fighter out there (street fighter alpha 3 is it's equal but in different ways). This game makes you form strategies that have to be decided upon and changed within a split second. Although it being a slower paced game than other SF, the extra time allots you space to form countermeasures against your foe. Like I said before, this game is more like intense chess than a fighting game. The controls are customizable and intuitive. You don't want a novel to tell you how to play a game and this beats the rest with replayability up the ying yang. Due to unfortunate circumstances I'm about to buy another copy, (for the third time mind you). You want a great fighting game that doesn't lose its touch, this is it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good memories., April 29, 2011
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha (Video Game)
Well here I am. Making a review of a game made in the mid 90s in this year, 2011. What can i say? This bring backs amazing memories.

I could remember the time i went to the arcade with a friend, I found this game and i just HAD to play it. The graphics were weak in the arcade, but then they had it on ps1, which the graphics are much better. I won't say this is the best game i ever played, but hey, it's not fair comparing a 90s game to a current. SO let's just put it this way because I'm bored.

Graphics: 4.5
Sounds: 4.8
Controlls: 5.0
Replay Value: 4.8
length: 3.5
Overall: 4.5

I'll recommend this to anyone who's enjoying classic games or is a street fighter fan,,, or to anyone who likes fighting games.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME GAME!, March 13, 2011

I got this game awhile ago, when i was still 5. I enjoyed fighting games since i was young, and I still am ^^. i'm like twelve LOL. It has ALRIGHT graphics, but hey. Its made in 1997. If you're a true classical gamer, or just a hardcore fighters fan, or maybe even just someone looking for a good fighting game, go ahead. get your a$$ out there in a flea market, pawn, or just from amazon, spend a few bucks on this. The gameplay is VERY good, and it made Tekken into shame. Tekken was really good, until i tried StreetFighter. It has 23 characters. It includes: Ryu, Ken,(what's streetfighter without those two?), Chun-li, Akuma, MANY MANY MORE. It's a good street fighter, I'd liek this one the best. I recomend street fighter 4, graphic wise though... This one has good gameplay, and a fighting system. It's made up of simple kicks and punches. WAIT WAIT WAIT! don't go yet! though it has simple fighting moves, each character has there own style in it. theres also 3-6 special moves for each character, and 2-3 super combos. For streetfighter, hey. 15 combos are pretty good.

The game was brand new and brought back memories of being a teenager. This was one of my favorite games when it first came out and I remember playing it in the arcade and at home about a million times! I'm glad some one had the foresight to keep it around and I was very pleased with the price.
