Book Description

February 17, 2009 Prima Official Game Guides
Frame Data - At the core of every fighting game is the skeletal frame work of mathematics often referred to as frame data. Generally reserved for the super strategic Japanese fighting game books, frame data for the 17 arcade characters has been given a dedicated chapter in the official Street Fighter IV strategy guide. High level tournament players can study these in-depth data tables on their way to tournaments, while casual players looking to reach the next level finally have the tools generally reserved for the hardcore elite.

A Guide for Beginners - The Street Fighter series has been around for over 20 years, but there hasn't been a new installment in the series since Street Fighter III: Third Strike released 8 years ago. Whether you're an old timer who will be dusting off their arcade sticks, or a newcomer who has yet to throw their first Hadoken, everything you need to know to delve into the Street Fighter world can be found in the Basic Info and Terminology, and the Basic Training chapters of the official Street Fighter IV strategy guide. With this, you can ease your way into the world of Street Fighter at your own pace.

A Guide for Tournament Players - There are a lot of skilled Street Fighter players around the world, but Street Fighter IV is a brand new game for a new generation of consoles. The official Street Fighter IV strategy guide has everything a tournament-level player could ask for with key character points that allow players to quickly and easily find a character's best antiair attacks, poking attacks, and cross-up attacks. If you need a little extra help, the guide also includes in-depth strategies for all 25 arcade and console-exclusive characters, including tips to keep you up to date in the ever evolving world of high level Street Fighter competitive play.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great guide!, February 18, 2009
This review is from: Street Fighter IV: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) (Paperback)
Don't listen to the guy who wants pics of every move in every combo. You already have pics of every move, why do you need to see it in the combo section as well. There's one combo example with pics, then the guide lists the rest of the combos.

There's great strategy in the guide for every character, plus frame data in the back of the book. I've never seen frame data in a US guide before so this was a great addition and more guides should include it.

5 stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great guide for rusty SF fans or Newbies!!, February 28, 2009
This review is from: Street Fighter IV: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) (Paperback)
This guide is one of the best I've seen or purchased in the last few years! Due to internet it seems like a lot of guides are rushed and end up being based off of demo/test games so, they tend to not list everything available or whats all to be done.

Yes, I suppose one can find all of this on the web or that the combo lists are in the game menus. But, it really helps to see pictures of the moves. Because sometimes you think you're pulling the move off but, you arnt. Guide has a contents listing to easily flip to whatever you're looking for. Yes, that may seem like a duh for guides but, i'm surprised how many guides seem to not have content listings or that make sense and index listings.

Everything is laid out nice and professional. No confusion on what you need to look up it's all simple layouts and show's exactly what you want.

I also liked how the guide mentioned about how online play vs arcade play and explains the pro's and con's to both. Seems like a lot of newer gamers have no concept behind how an online match works or that some take advantage of the lag thats inevitable.

So, one can find a very comprehinsive review of each and every charater and game modes. Plus, some great artwork of the Street Fighter series if you're a fan of the artwork. I've always loved the diffrent styles of artwork capcom has provided for the series over the years and find the art layout to this book to be quite pleasing.

I got this guide off of ebay for .99 cents brand new and I still feel riped off. in my Life In never seen so many errors in a guide its like the writer never played the game. some combos are already in the game and some moves have the wrong image, even the wrong input and it also gives some bad advice( saying some moves or ex moves are not good when they are in fact are the characters deadlist).
also the guide shows abel with his regular and alternative costumes side by side, but then looks like the author changed his or her mind about it.
this thing is a waste of money you can get much better guides for free on the net and with more accurate information. do not waste your money on this unless you are a collector, otherwise I don't see a reason for buying this.
