4.0 out of 5 stars All your favorite Street Fighters...plus Sawada.
While this game is based off the infamous Van Damme movie, Street Fighter: The Movie is a pretty good game.

The Graphics are the game's weak point, the real live fighters are not something that should ever happen in a Street Fighter. Even if it should, the digital graphics where slower than Mortal Kombat's, the total opposite of what should have been done...

3.0 out of 5 stars If you are expecting a bad review for SFTMTG prepare to be disappointed
This game has received quite a beating over the years but I'm here to say this game is pretty good actually. I believe most people that played this game played the arcade version or played it on MAME 32.That's because the arcade version was so broken. This game has received quite a beating over the years but I'm here to say this game is pretty good actually. I believe most people that played this game played the arcade version or played it on MAME 32.That's because the arcade version was so broken. The home ports were not so bad it plays like Street Fighter only it used digitized graphics. It's not as bad as the 1st street fighter or the EX series just don't compare it with Street Figter II, III, the Alpha series or SF IV. There's a story mode which follow the events of the cheese fest of a movie & there is arcade mode which you can play as different characters. After you beat the story mode you get to watch the music video something there by Change & Aska. The graphics for it's time are great because of the Saturn's 2D processor & graphics chips not a bad fighting game but jus don't copare it with Street Figter II, III or IV or the Alpha series and you might find a pretty good game.

While this game is based off the infamous Van Damme movie, Street Fighter: The Movie is a pretty good game.

The Music is catchy and very action oriented. It would have been better if it was the SFII's music, but I still thought music was awesome. The sound on the other hand....while I'm glad Capcom spared gamers from "Tasemenmonkeymadpoo" it's a step back from games like Darkstalkers and Street Fighter Alpha.

The games's Playability and controls are the game's best features. Despite the other things, there is no question that this is a Street Fighter game. All the moves are there, from Guile's double sweep to Ryu's Shinkuu Hadouken. Like in Darkstalkers and Street Fighter III Third Strike, some of the character's special moves can be powered up to do additional damage

Game options like Movie Battle, Survival and a Training mode are great additions made to the game. The best part of the game to me is Sawada. A character that is only playable in the movie games. He's a functional yet humorous character due to his move set.

Overall, SFTM is a user friendly game that is held back by the digitized graphics and bad sound. For any Street Fighter fan, it's a must.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than the movie, July 19, 2006

Lets be fair. This is a Capcom fighting game based on a horrible movie, based on an awesome game. This doesn't totally suck, but there are better street fighter games (any). If you are a fighter nut, and love Capcom you still need this game in your collection.

1.0 out of 5 stars The best Street Fighter yet ? I think not !, August 15, 2002
This review is from: Street Fighter: The Movie (Video Game)
Street Fighter has amazed me for years and not one of them was considered the worst Street Fighter game of all time...until Street Fighter: The Movie was made. This fighting game is based on the horribly made Street Fighter movie starring Jean Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia. This game was released for three platforms a year after the movie was released on video...the PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and Arcade. None of these versions fared well with the series ! Even though the arcade version created a huge audience of fans, which probably lasted for a few months or weeks because of the digitized graphics and solid playability, this is still considered the worst Street Fighter game and at the same time, the worst Street Fighter movie ever made. Real SF veterans wouldn't even call it Street Fighter. They would just call it a Mortal Kombat game on ... Now, to give some info on the game. The graphics are very dated by todays standards, considering the fact that it was made by Acclaim, the guys who created Mortal Kombat II. Before, the digitized graphics caught the eyes of millions of gamers, but as we see them today, digital graphics just don't cut it no more ! They just look horrible and stupid ! As for the sound...BLEH !!! Galaga's audio sounds even better than this garbage ! The music sounds very played out and the voice actors sound like they're trying too hard to sound like the original Japanese characters, just like the cast of characters from the movie, trying to pose like their video game counterparts. You should listen to Ryu's "Hadouken", Guile's "Sonic Boom", and Ken's "Shoryu Reppa". They really sound horrible, tired, and defunct. I'm not even gonna go with the line of characters. If you've seen them in the movie, then you already know who they are. But there's a code where you can actually unlock Akuma (whom is not featured in the movie). But from what I'm looking at, Akuma looks stupid too ! As for the gameplay...it reeks ! This is what you get when you have get Acclaim involved in a (what you call) Street Fighter game. It plays like a clunky version of Street Fighter II with horrible balance and nonsenseable controls. So in the end, Street Fighter: The Movie is the worst Street Fighter game of all time ! The entire SF series made by Capcom of Japan have sold well on the shelves like Street Fighter Alpha 3, Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Street Fighter II Turbo, Super Street Fighter II, and Street Fighter EX. As a longtime vetaran of Street Fighter, I think that this game should stay where it belongs...the shelf it has been displayed on. This game is a real dust collector on the used video game shelves ! If you want the true Street Fighter experinces, get the ones that were originally made by Capcom and only Capcom ! Whatever you do, ignore this piece of garbage !
