5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing variety of style should appeal to all

This book is actually much better than I thought. Probably because I'm looking at them in full size instead of the small web images I found on the Internet.

It has a very satisfying thickness at 320 pages. The dust jacket is smooth, nice to touch, non-glossy over a soft cover. The paper stock is thick matte and the colour reproduction is...

Hundreds of artists have come together to contribute Street Fighter art for the book. As a result, the variety in terms of style is amazing. Some of the styles included are manga, realistic caricature, chibi, game art, vector and many other.

I've read of artists who blogged about their work being rejected. I can understand why because the quality of artwork in this book is very high.

UDON has also allowed artists to promote their work on their individual blogs. Over the past few months, I've seen a lot of artists blogging about their art and the book. It's really great to finally see the book in print.

This art book belongs to the you-can-enjoy-it-even-if-you're-not-a-Street-Fighter-fan category.

It's well worth every single cent I spent, and I'm not a Street Fighter fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars This art book has a solid impact!, October 17, 2008

I'm a big fan of the Street Fighter characters so I snapped this book up as soon as I saw it available. I had high hopes for the art and I was not disappointed. There are over 300 pictures of the Street Fighter crew in all sorts of styles. The many artists who contributed art provided pieces that range from powerful to passive, sexy to silly, highly detailed to sketchy. It's not going to be like having all the art done by UDON Studios but if you don't mind variety, this Tribute art book is well worth getting. Don't worry, the girls are well represented! :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is visual candy and has art that everyone can enjoy, October 24, 2008
This review is from: Street Fighter Tribute (Paperback)
I'm a Street Fighter nut, and I love what UDON has done with the property. I've bought their other Street Fighter books so this was a no-brainer for me. But I was pleasantly surprised to find myself REALLY enjoying this book. The art in this collection is from professionals and fans alike. Variation is the name of the game. Every art style imaginable is present here. And even the most obscure characters are represented, and the obscure characters are my favorites so I very much appreciated that. People who don't even know Street Fighter can't seem to put this book down.
As for the book itself, it is as high quality as high quality can be. Nice, thick paper. Strong binding. A great slipcover(featuring amazing cover art to boot).
Bottom line: If you're a Street Fighter fan, buy this. If you're a fan of art, buy this. If you're neither, what the hell are you doing reading this review?

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant art and fond memories, October 20, 2008
This review is from: Street Fighter Tribute (Paperback)
Few video game franchises have both the history and relevance of Street Fighter today. It's truly timeless, with so many incarnation sparking so many different emotions for so many different people.

This book captures that feeling perfectly. It's a blend of gorgeous artwork and raw emotion. Some of the artists clearly have a passion for Street Fighter and most have very strong nostalgia for the series.

This is perfect for anyone's library or coffee table. And if you're any kind of Street Fighter fan, you owe it to yourself to snag a copy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting art styles, great coffee table art., December 17, 2011

I have loved St. Fighter since it came out in the early 90's. Every page of this book has beautifull pictures of the characters. Almost every one is done in a different art style which makes them interesting. Most of the art was computer generated but there are a few that look like they were done in oil, acrylic and pencil. I would have liked if there were more but the CG stuff is striking regardless. Great coffee table art. I highly recommend.

This has a lot of cool artwork for the SF characters. I kind of wish that there were more individual pictures than group pictures, and maybe more styles. A lot of the group pictures were pretty similar (granted there were some very different group pictures).

Some characters had little to no representation.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you had to pick one art book for SF this is it, June 28, 2010
This review is from: Street Fighter Tribute (Paperback)
Just got this as a gift today along with The Art of Street Fighter and I can say this is the better book. Great creative artwork done by fans of the game so much love and quirkiness has gone into this book and the art. Many different styles all unique and fun. The book was way better than I thought it would be by far. Nothing in terms of reading for anyone thinking that this is an art book with a lot of text. There are little paragraphs every now and than but nothing engrossing so if your looking for more than art don't pick this up. One thing I thought was strange ( though don't mind since i main Blanka) is that there is a section of the book that showcases blanka art exclusively. I thought that was cool but didn't understand why it was there and didn't go on to other character as well. Maybe Udon's fav character is blanka and they felt he needed a section of his own ( not many pages. probably like 6)
