Great compilation of every SF character, but I was hoping for something more besides just characters BIO's.
The art itself is great as always, but they could've added a little plus for the fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bone Up On Your SF History, April 17, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Street Fighter World Warrior Encyclopedia (Paperback)
This book contains bios on all the major Street Fighter characters. If they've appeared in SF II, III, IV or the Alpha games, they are included here (no one from the EX series though - which to me is fine). A few more major characters get extra attention. There's nice full page art for each character, likes, dislikes, etc and their bio, which seems to be entirely official(i.e. taken from the games). It also contains a smaller glossary like section in the back with tidbits on lesser characters like Ken's wife, SF I characters, etc. While I wouldn't have minded more information, like for example, dialogue exchanges with their rivals from SF Alpha 3 & SF IV, for the price its a nice reference and fun to get a refresher on your favorite world warriors.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Book of streetfighters, February 1, 2011

This review is from: Street Fighter World Warrior Encyclopedia (Paperback)
This book is a must have for all you die hard fans. It gives you stats and the back stories to almost every street fighter in the universe today. This book does not have any of the fighters from the EX series, but does have all of the new fighters in street fighter 4 and super street fighter 4. Its not a massive book so its easy to port around. For your kid they could take it to school or for adults slip it into your briefcase on the way to work and sneak in a few pages.

All in all a great addition to anyones library.

5.0 out of 5 stars SF WW Encyclopedia, September 28, 2010

Excellent book with great back story for each character. Illustrations are great. Is well worth it's price. Only minor banter is that they did'nt have a street fighter character for the letter P, so it is not exactly 100% an encyclopedia with all the characters for each letter of the alphabet. Therefore I can't explain to my 3 year old son that there is no street fighter character starting with the letter P. Ordering a second one for myself as the first one I have decided to give to my three year old son who obsessively carries it around with him everywhere he goes, even to bed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent, but very scattered, September 25, 2010
This review is from: Street Fighter World Warrior Encyclopedia (Paperback)
I have to point out that I am probably the hugest Street Fighter out there. So I am very critical about the content of any Street Fighter book. At first sight of this book, I automatically jumped in and bought without being too critical. Upon my way home, I started to skim through it and see what it was all about. I am aware that Udon takes liberties with the original story and gives it a spin of their own, making Street Fighter somewhat more cheesy than it originally is. But being that Street Fighter was never really known for it's strong back story, I guess somebody out there had to make one up. I'm not really a fan of their newer comic stories personally, so I was skeptical of how the backgrounds of the characters were going to be interpreted in this book. Fortunately they based all of the facts based on any information supplied in any past history of Street Fighter, making it more creditable and true to the series.
Now on to my major dislikes. I do not like how they do not uniform the art work of the characters. They just use their stock art work from many different artists, making the overall artwork look very inconsistent and in some way kinda ugly. It would have been really nice to see all new art work, instead of constant recycled pieces over and over again. Isn't that what the Udon art books are for? Also, they only profile the major characters, leaving out a ton of others that graced us in the Street Fighter series like the EX Plus stuff, etc. And the most insulting thing they did was cram in the very first Street Fighter characters in the back, without any major pictures, and just a very short paragraph that doesn't tell very much. I understand that there can't be a full page for each fighter, but c'mon, throw these guys a bone! This is actually the one place where Udon could take some liberties considering not that much history was ever given on these guys. Without them, the whole series wouldn't have gone on for each sequel. Street Fighter II may be the one that everybody remembers, but not me. I remember the huge cabinet Street Fighter I with the two Huge red buttons had me mesmerized at first site back in the early 80's.
This book could have been so much better, and actually made Udon get some respect that so desperately seek. In my opinion, Udon is kind of ruining the franchise by ignoring where it came from. I do somewhat like the book, but only because it has some Street Fighter history base on past facts. But I can only imagine if it was up to me to make this book. I would have come up with something so much better. I imagine that many other fans will feel the same way.
If you are a hard core fan that has to get everything Street Fighter, then sure, go ahead and check it out. But if you easily get annoyed with Udon and their stuff, then check it out before you buy. I'm a sucker, so I bought it. I also buy their extremely bad comics as well. I can't help it.
