This review is from: A Street Girl Named Desire: A Novel (Paperback)
Treasure Blue does what he can only do and that is deliver a raw, uncensored, tell it like it is novel that touches every emotion that lies within a person. Treasure has the ability to take the reader into the story and have them living the accounts of the story like it has happened to them. Only great writers can do this, and you Mr. Blue has done it again with this novel.
A Street Girl Named Desire really isn't for the faint at heart because Treasure paints this story like an artist stroking their finest masterpiece. Desire experiences gut wrenching events....events that will touch the core of the reader...but when you live the life that Desire has been dealt then you will either sink or survive. Does Desire sink or does she survive, by any means necessary. Does she accept the life of a street girl or does she changes the rules of the game? This novel will evoke your tear ducts...so get your tissue ready...and prepare yourself to take this journey with Treasure Blue as he invites you into the world of a street girl name Desire. KUDOS to you, Mr. BLue

Treasure E. Blue hands down is the new residing KING of urban fiction! When I read "Harlem Girl Lost" which was the best book I ever read, I didn't think he would be able to top that one but, then came his second novel " A Street Girl Name Desire" and it totally blew me away! This book will be coming to a movie theatre real soon! Tyler Perry, Rusell Simmons and Oprah better recognize a DIAMOND when they see it!
You are the best and continued success to you Treasure!

SHE HAS TO LEARN HOW TO PICK HERSELF UP AND WHAT SHE WENT THUR THE LESSON SHE IS TO OUT OF IT. SHE DID COME BACK ON TOP AND DID GET TO SHINE. THIS BOOK WAS ACTION PACKED AT TIMES AND IT DID HAVE A COOL DOWN POINT FOR ME BUT IT WAS ALRIGHT TO READ.

So Many Desires, So Few Dreams,
By
This review is from: A Street Girl Named Desire: A Novel (Paperback)
A Street Girl Named Desire by Treasure E. Blue chronicled the journey of a young woman who attempted to live life on life's terms. Born on a New York street to a drug addicted mother, Desire's chances of being successful were slim to non-existent. She was taken in by an elderly woman, Hattie Mae, in hopes that she would defy the odds that were against her. Though Hattie Mae had good intentions, the streets had another agenda. Desire was caught up in a myriad of issues including drugs, prostitution, lies, lust, and greed. Was the spiritual foundation Hattie Mae laid for Desire enough to break the unwavering claim the streets have on her? Or would she succumb to volatile whispers that plagued her existence since birth?
Treasure E. Blue is an awesome story-teller. The imagery was good and the characters were believable even though their actions were not. Some scenes relied on shock value rather than letting the story rely on the writing talents of the author. There were grammatical errors but they were forgivable because the story was so good. I recommend A Street Girl Named Desire to urban fiction fans who enjoy wholesome stories with jaw-dropping and unimaginable scenes. Reviewed by Darnetta Frazier APOOO BookClub

Trouble in the Way,
This review is from: A Street Girl Named Desire: A Novel (Paperback)
Desire Mitchell's transition into this world was more difficult than most. Her mother, Nika, was an addict out selling her body in the bitter cold in order to gratify her need for drugs. Oblivious that her body was laboring, Desire was literally born on the streets of Harlem. Had it not been for Christian Hattie Mae Evans, Nika and her precious bundle would've frozen to death.
Wilding out in the streets as a preteen, Desire is bouncing from one rotten foster home to another. She knows not to get too comfortable as she's subject to be removed. Desperate for some kind of kinship, Desire meets another young girl, Tiah, in the same predicament and she looks out for her the way she wished someone would've done with her. Once again Hattie Mae gets the opportunity to open her heart as well as her home taking in Desire as well as Tiah. She offers the girls comfort, safety, as well as love. Introduced to religion at Bethel A.M.E Church, Desire also discovers that she had a powerful singing voice as well as an admirer in the pianist, Carvelas. With so much going right in her life, Desire soon backslides to the perils from her past and the young girl is quickly swept up in the haves and have-nots. When Desire gets another taste of life's cruelty, she sets out to be ruthless in her pursuits. On a fast track to fame, fortune and finally having it all, Desire is kicked down again by life. Will this songstress ever get a chance to sing her praise? I think I may be the only person who has yet to read Harlem Girl Lost. I was worried that reading A Street Girl Named Desire first might dissuade my interest because so many authors fall into a slump after having a hit the first time out. But I can sincerely admit that as an enthusiastic reader, A Street Girl Named Desire was drenched in drama, drugs, vengeance, power, pain, envy, love and hope...all the elements needed to satisfy my hunger for a good read. A Valuable Lesson for Life...,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: A Street Girl Named Desire: A Novel (Paperback)
Born literally on the cold, hard streets of New York, Desire is a young lady whose life is on a roller coaster ride and filled with pain. A true angel--Hattie Mae Evans--comes into Desire's life and shows her the true meaning of love.
As a teenager, Desire realizes she has voice skills and decides to use them to her advantage. Desire, her sister Tiah, and friend Chanel form a singing group that releases the hit single "Harlem Girl Lost." Desire's sudden stardom clouds her thinking, and she forgets the true meaning of family and friends. As Desire's greed takes over her thinking, she spirals out of control and hits rock bottom. Desire finds herself in a tragic predicament, when another angel, former high school friend Carvelas, helps her get her life back on track. Carvelas helps Desire get into a program to help her fight her demons. While there, Desire is unaware that she will soon meet someone from her raucous past that will help her get her life together. Once again, Treasure E. Blue has written a winning novel with a valuable lesson for life.

We Fall Down, But We Get Up,
By OOSA Online Book Club "O.O.S.A. Gets It Read!" (World Wide Web, USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE)
This review is from: A Street Girl Named Desire: A Novel (Paperback)
Desire Evans beat the odds, or did she? Born on the cruel, unforgiving streets of Harlem to an addicted mother, Desire's recovery was nothing short of miraculous. Despite subsequent years of abuse and neglect, she finally found a home with the love, comfort and security she longed for. But when the streets come calling, will Desire answer?
A STREET GIRL NAMED DESIRE is the story of one woman's journey of self-discovery. It's an excruciating journey, but one that was essential for growth, for acceptance and for a chance at life. Treasure E. Blue provides an intimate portrait. In spite of its underlying message, A STREET GIRL NAMED DESIRE was an okay read for me. My expectations were high having read HARLEM GIRL LOST. This was entertaining and held my attention but it wasn't a page-turner. I found the ending to be a little too neat for me. That said, there is still no question that Treasure is a talented brother and a star on the rise. I loved the play on the title. Reviewed by: Toni
