4.0 out of 5 stars One of Nina's Best From The Eighties
Nina Hagen is like an exorcism put to a dance beat...and twice as fun. "Street" is possibly one of her most subdued releases. Her vocal quirks are more limited on some tracks like "In My World" but not totally forgotten as in "Nina for President". Although the music sticks to a danceable formula, it's not dated to today's ears.

"Blumen fur die Damen" is simply...

3.0 out of 5 stars I was a bit unfair
First of all, I judged this album so unjustly unfair on the german amazone side. I rated it with only one star, and trashed it down to the mudd, I did this because I was a little dissapointed by it, when I first got it.
Of course Nina's vocal can't stay the same in 20 year.
But after listen to it a couple of times I was convinced, True! it's not as good as any...

"Blumen fur die Damen" is simply beautiful. Gorgeous German lyrics over a percolating beat. Listening to her wail the title's words in the background during the middle-eight bars (before the final chorus) gives me chills. But wait, after a few more Danceteria tunes we get "Berlin (Is Dufte)". Nina shows us that she hasn't forgotten her punk roots. And to continue the trend that started on the previous "Nina Hagen" album, we get her version of a classic hit - this time, The Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations".

When a lot of established performers were struggling to stay "with-it" during the 80s, Nina released a satisfying record *and* had fun doing it.

First of all, I judged this album so unjustly unfair on the german amazone side. I rated it with only one star, and trashed it down to the mudd, I did this because I was a little dissapointed by it, when I first got it.
Of course Nina's vocal can't stay the same in 20 year.
But after listen to it a couple of times I was convinced, True! it's not as good as any of her 80's releases, True! her vocal range doesn't expand to the extend that it used to, True! her lyrics aren't so shocking and opinionfied as previously.
If you look aside these aspects, the album of "Street" is satisfying. It contains, "In My World" wonderful lonely night song, "Berlin (Is Dufte)" Nina hasn't forgotten her punk roots, "All 4 Franckie" submitted as a dance song, but has slightly a pinch of weirdness, and the wonderful cover version of "Good Vibrations". Serious ear candy for dj's and club groupies. P.S sorry Nina.
