Editorial Reviews

2012 album from the Swedish born, New Orleans based soul singer, a lush, joyful and sometimes melancholy ode to the city she has called "home" for nearly 20 years. Street Parade reflects a dreamy Nordic pop sensibility firmly rooted and influenced by the warm Gospel and Soul sounds that drew the artist to New Orleans in the first place. The title track, "Street Parade" opens the record with resounding vocals rising over a regimental drum-line, testifying to the catharsis and impermanence of the carnival. Theresa's voice plays from a tongue-in-cheek 60s standard to a subtle snarl on the nocturnal brass breakdown of "Fiya's Gone." "What Comes Next" opens with a bright horn melody and mighty drum cadence leading into a powerful chorus on which Theresa is joined by Peter Moren of Peter Bjorn and John.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful piece of music July 10, 2013
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
Theresa traveled to NOLA with Anders Osborne back in the day as a musical duo. She still resides in NOLA and this album is a great piece of music. At times evoking Kate Bush, it captures your attention and holds it throughout the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of a kind August 19, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I have seen Theresa perform many times in New Orleans at Jazz Fest and she is a terrific performer!! But I never get tired of listening to her CD's and this one is excellent. Her "studio" performances always sound like she is in the room with you performing for you. Excellent CD that reminds us just how good and special she is!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful! August 16, 2012
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I love this album a whole lot. Theresa is such an innovative musician and I think this album's theme of New Orleans after the parade and after the storm are so deeply moving and compelling. It's a fantastic album as is Hummingbird, Go! and if you haven't seen video of her performing live you need to. It's amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece June 28, 2012
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
"Street Parade" is best heard from beginning to end - that is how I play it and I play it nearly every day more than once. This is an amazing set of songs and Andersson's voice is a truly beautiful thing. Favorite cut: 'Endymion'. Amazing. I saw Theresa Andersson play at Jazz Fest in NOLA back in early May. She had a great band and put on a wonderful set. (But, jeez, it was hot out there!)
