Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Molly and Nellie have charmed listeners through the World War II years with the daily goings-on of their respective Liverpool families and now there is cause for celebration. Their sons have returned from fighting, and their eldest children are soon to be wed to each other. There is just one hitch. Lily, Nellie's daughter, is dating a mysterious young man whom no one seems to like or know much about. Interwoven with this story are the now familiar banter and chats between the very different, but inseparable, Nellie and Molly. The excellent reading by Maggie Ollerenshaw gives each character personality and makes them come to life. And that's no small accomplishment as this is the type of book that could easily bog down into tedium without her lively delivery. Jonker (Sweet Rosie O'Grady) knows Liverpool and gets it just right, but that very fact may put off some American listeners who prefer the exotic when listening to works about other places. A well-done production; for libraries where there is an interest in tales about women's friendships and family sagas. Nancy Paul, Brandon P.L., WI
