Editorial Reviews

This CD distills a lifetime journey through jazz of a versatile pianist who has performed with many jazz giants of yesterday and today. Larry Vuckovich has worked with the likes of as Dexter Gordon, Philly Joe Jones, Tom Harrell, Bobby Hutcherson, Charlie Haden, Charles McPherson and others. His unique piano approach shows on his originals, plus hard-swinging contemporary jazz, classic bebop, Afro-Cuban and sensitive ballads that appear on this, his first full length trio album. He is joined by the hot, inventive rhythm team of Larry Grenadier and Akira Tana. Barry Harris calls Larry "one of the premier West Coast pianists". Charlie Haden describes him as " original voice on the piano...(who) plays with a lot of creative depth and feeling".

It is so hard to pick my favorite Larry Vuckovich album, but this is the one I listen to the most. The trio is so tight and swings so hard you can't help smiling. Then again, you might end up crying at the beauty and sensitivity Larry displays in the romantic ballads. The addition of Hector Lugo and Vince Delgado on percussion is a real treat (nobody plays Egyptian tabla like Vince). Akira Tana on the drums conveys his usual jubilant enthusiasm and is obviously having a blast with bassist Larry Grenadier. Highly recommended for lovers of straight ahead jazz.

We love Larry Vukovich and this album has lots of hid piano and just the right amount of other instruments etc.
It is a pleasure to deal with Amazon.
