5.0 out of 5 stars Street Singers, Soul Shakers, Rebels With A Cause = Music From Macon (Georgia) = A Super Outstanding Book On Southern Music!!!!, January 7, 2010
This review is from: Street Singers, Soul Shakers, Rebels with a Cause: Music from Macon (Hardcover)
Thie is an excellent book covering the Macon, Georgia Music Scene, mostly during the 1960's and 1970's. It covers the late/great Rev.Pearly Brown. He was a blind, black, steet Blues musician, who is on the cover of Wet Willie's "Keep on Smilin'" Album. The late, Rev.Pearly Brown was/is an inspiration to many musicians, and his legancy continues to influence artists, especially those from Macon & the South. The book also covers Little Richard, Otis Redding, The Allman Brothers Band, Wet Willie, The Marshall Tucker Band, James Brown, Phil & Alan Walden of Capricorn Records in Macon.

It also covers dozens of other artists that were involved in the Macon Music Scene. It also covers Grants Lounge, which was/is a venue where many talented bands/artists have been "discovered". The book also covers "Mama" Louise, of H & H resturant, she was the "honorary", mother of the early Allman Brothers Band. This is an excellent book covering the Macon,Georgia Music scence, like no other book ever has. I just wish the price was lower. Thanks!!!!
