This review is from: From the Street (Audio CD)
Tom Coster's FROM THE STREET is top-notch modern fusion, and is a logical extension of the kind of jazz/rock/fusion that emerged around 1970.
I hear elements of Herbie Hancock, Weather Report, and even the new age group Shadowfax on Coster's album. The only mild complaint I might have is that some of the music is a bit repetitive; one song runs into another and everything is a bit homogenous. But that has its advantages, as it makes the entire CD a continuous experience. Highly enjoyable and highly recommended! And by the way, don't be put off by the high price. This is an audiophile CD. This JVC XRCD is one of the best-sounding CDs that I've ever heard, especially for this kind of music. |
