I purchased this product overhauled thinking that it would be in used condition but when I received it the GPS looked like it was brand new. I have been very happy with my purchase.

This is my second 2720. I paid $750 for the first one which was stolen when I left my car unlocked one night. I decided to replace it with something a little less expensive so I purchased a Street Pilot C340, I guess you get what you pay for. The 340 lacked 2 features that I really use all the time, the tracking log and the selective detours. When I saw the overhauled 2720 at this price I purchased one and gave away my C340. Great to have a good GPS again, I've made several cross country trips with each unit and the 2720 is by far the best for my needs. With the included AC adapter the lack of an internal battery is no problem at all.
Update - May 31, 2009. After 5 months of good service my overhauled 2720 failed, refused to turn on. I contacted Garmin customer service and explained the problem. They gave me an RMA number and I returned the unit. In less than a week a replacement arrived. I've been using it everyday for 2 weeks now and it seems perfect. Including this last replacement, I've owned 5 Garmin GPSs and navigators. The one that failed to turn on is the only one I've ever had any problem with and Garmin replaced it. Not only is their equipment great but their service it first class.

This is my fourth Garmin GPS, this one replaces a 2610. The 2720 is much faster, has easier menus to navigate, has 3D navigation, and a screen that is more responsive and easier to work with. Overall a very good unit, and an amazing value at this price.


My only grumble is that the mapset is out of date and Garmin wants a pretty hefty sum to update to the current maps. This is a new policy for Garmin (they used to provide one free update if the map was out of date) and one that I'm not happy about. So figure an extra $70 to have current maps.

This is my third Garmin 2720, which I bought for our daughter. GREAT product and SUPER price (I paid over $600. each last year). I did consider other Garmins, but I like the 2720's instructions better than some of the newer NUVIs. I had it side by side with my son's NUVI 750, the 2720 gave us more warning (time) of upcoming turns. The 750 does have some additional features that I do like.

The Garmin 2720 is a fantastic GPS with street-level mapping for the entire United States as well as spoken directions using the street name ("In 400 feet, turn right on Weatherford Lane"). For a little over a hundred dollars for a refurbished unit (which is indistinguishable from a brand new unit), it is as good a deal on a GPS as you'll ever find. Garmin is second to none in technology and their customer service is outstanding. This unit is highly recommended and for this price - all I can say is "buy it!".

I have been thinking about replacing my aging Garmin 2610 for some time. The unit is used predominantly on my motorcycle, so I was looking at the Zumo series. With both those units costing well over $550 I just couldn't pull the trigger. When I saw the 2720 for $107 I figured I couldn't go wrong. My unit shipped promptly and when it arrived it appeared to me to be a brand new unit. The listing states that it is reconditioned, but I would venture a guess that these are new old stock as mine was in perfect, untouched condition. The unit came with 2008 maps installed and they will do just fine until I decide to upgrade through Garmin.
The 2720 provides all the functionality I need for daily use. It's only shortcoming is a screen that is somewhat smaller than current units. In use, the map on the screen is actually smaller than the screen size as the right border is taken up with vehicle speed and directions. The ony thing I feel the display is missing is a 'time to destination' display.
Of course, it doesn't have the bells and whistles of Bluetooth, MP3 playback or an FM transmitter, but I wasn't looking for those things and wasn't willing to spend $600 for them. What you get with the 2720 is a solid, waterproof GPS with excellent navigational functions. If this is what you are looking for, you can't do any better than this GPS

It is a very useful tool and at such a low price for the refurbished unit I can now keep one in each car.

This was a discontinued model, refurbished and with a one-year warranty. It has operated perfectly (within the limits of any GPS and of the lag of up to decades in updating the mapping database in some areas). You can even program it to show the information you want and not show what you don't want, such as showing elevation while showing the map, which some of the newer GPSs don't allow. It's more basic than the newer models and it's bulkier. One feature that would have been nice would have been internal batteries. As it is, it runs on a 12-volt d.c. adaptor or an a.c. adaptor. If you turn off the ignition of your car, and your 12-volt accessory socket is not powered, the GPS shuts off. I bypassed the ignition switch on one vehicle to obviate this problem.

I can't really add much to what's been said, especially since I'm new to GPS in general. I've wanted a GPS for my bike for a while but haven't been able to afford one until I came across this one. I think it'll suite my needs, basic road navigation, just fine. With the mounting solution I've chosen I've got about $225 all total in my setup. A far cry from the price of a new Zumo. They say "newly overhauled." Mine looked brand new and came with all the accessories needed for your car. I'll have to use it for a while to see if the maps, City Navigator 2008, need updating. So far I haven't had a problem with them but haven't taken any trips into unfamiliar territory. Sure beats looking at a fogged up, rain soaked map pouch on my tank bag or stopping, pulling out the map, trying to remember the next 2 or 3 turns and repeating the process.
