5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Enjoyable
This is a Map of the City of Ankh Morkpork. If you have't heard of Ankh Morpork you're missing out on one of the best fantasy series ever (Discworld)! The Streets of Ankh Morpork includes a big map, I hung it on my wall, and a small booklet describing the map, and the locations on the map. The map is very detailed, with all major (and many not-so-major) streets...

1.0 out of 5 stars The death of Ankh-Morpork and the Discworld
Ankh-Morpork should never have been mapped! This town used to be a place where streets could appear and disappear, where streets weren't the same from day to day. I loved that town! Now it's just become an ordinary metropolis inhabited by slightly exotic beings, but aside from that a static nightmare forever locked to this misguided map. This map (and the map of the...

The map is very detailed, with all major (and many not-so-major) streets identified, important parts of the city labeled, like the Shades, and lots of interesting illistrations around the borders. After reading the Discworld books centering on Ankh-Morpork, I found this map gave new life to the famous city that all roads lead away from.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where in the Name of Offler Am I?, March 22, 2011

You'd have to be mad to ask directions from anyone in Ankh-Morpork, so obviously a visitor to the city needs a Mapp showing all the places to avoid at all costs.

I bought mine because I'm contemplating running a Discworld RPG game and everyone knows y'can't play without Ye Mapps. Thus I was spared the angst shown by some down at the bottom of the review list who feel It Shoulde Notte Have Beene Donne.

I love the fact that the Mapps look like UK tourist maps I've owned, with a sturdy, book-like cover, a gazetteer glued to the inside of the left cover and the map attached awkwardly to the right one so that the weight of the gazetteer fights you if you try and open Ye Mapp outside or one handed. Ten out of ten for verisimilitude.

The mapp itself is (of course) a work of art well worth the cost of ownership, printed in glorious colour on glossy paper. It's huge. Should you be adrift on a raft it should make a very serviceable spinnaker.

The accuracy is a matter of heated debate, but it's not a debate I involve myself with because a) It is a mapp of an imaginary place which stands on it's own merit, 2) Pratchett was consulted by Briggs often during it's production and therefore obviously approved of its production and $) If you think the idea is doctrinally flawed you shouldn't buy it in the first place. If you've already bought it your choices would seem to be to not look at it, to sell it or to gouge out your eyes.

Personally, I enjoy looking at it, and I'm thinking of getting another copy to mount on a backboard so I can hange yt on ye wall.

It would be an excellent prop for people contemplating running the Discworld (HC), as would The Discworld Mapp.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very well done map., May 16, 2009

Very cool map. Well designed and implemented (i.e. it has a nice 'look and feel' about it). Nice 'cover' and inside book for information about the map.

Only complaint is that it would be nice if it was made out of studier material not just poster paper type quality.

Regarding the post saying this ruined Ankh-Morpork... if you feel that way, don't buy it/use it. It doesn't mean the product itself is bad in and of itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars great, nicely labeled map, August 19, 2000
This review is from: The Streets of Ankh-Morpork (Mass Market Paperback)
with the exeption of Steven Briggs trying to be funny at the beginig of the pamphlet that comes with the map, this product is exxelent. I got the last copy that ships in 24 hours but order it anyway it is worth the wait. I disagree with the last review, this map doesnt hinder Ankh Morpork it gives it a whole new dimension! The pamphet is great, the map is great, the illustaions are great, the cover is great, GET THIS MAP BEFORE ITS TOO LATE AND NONE ARE IN STOCK! I WAS LUCKY, MAYBE YOU WILL BE TOO!!!!

Now it's just become an ordinary metropolis inhabited by slightly exotic beings, but aside from that a static nightmare forever locked to this misguided map. This map (and the map of the Discworld itself) are symptomatic of why Pratchett's newer books are not as lively as his first - say - 10: The Discworld, that once was organic and developing, is now a dead *thing* so orderly that it can even be captured by a 2-dimensional map!
