Lost In The Crowd,

Since Sherrie Austin's debut with her 1997 album "Words" she has just come up shy of breaking out big in a competitive Nashville market. While experiencing mild success with both "Love in the Real World" and "Followin' a Feelin' " (her second and third studio albums respectively) Austin never found a large following despite an abundance of talent. Now with Austin's forth album "Streets of Heaven" she continues to prove that she belongs among her elite female counterparts with her sassy vocals and brilliant songwriting skills. The album is consistent throughout. Some of the album highlights are the title track and the catchy songs "Somebody's Somebody" and "Driving into the Sun". She also effortlessly weaves her way through touching ballads including "Fools like Us" and "Ride'em Cowgirl" which tells the story of a rodeo girl who leads a lonely and nomadic lifestyle. I should also add that there is a hidden track that plays just after "Like a Cat" entitled "Heart On Ice" Austin's love of country music is evident and she is a gift to the genre, one whom often is overlooked and underrated. If you're looking a solid country album to feature in your collection I highly recommend "Streets of Heaven". Also check out some of her earlier albums.

Awesome CD,

I just received this CD as a Christmas gift (per my request) and I must say that it is excellent. Sherrie's lyrics are very clever and all of the melodies are gorgeous. A lot of the songs make you long for a summer day so you can roll the windows down and crank it loud, but it's December here in Louisville so not yet! It's hard to pick favorites, but "Driving Into the Sun" definitely stands out. Even though it's an up-tempo number, its really a tragic tale of love lost and the yearning for days of innocence. You can almost visualize the invincible young couple blinded by the bright sun! "Ride 'Em Cowgirl" is also amazing. Again, the lyrics and melody are beautiful and Sherrie's vocal delivery is spectacular. I also find myself listening to "This Town Is That Small" repeatedly. And need I even mention "Streets of Heaven" which is, of course, the reason I wanted this CD in the first place? The whole CD is wonderful. I would love to see it get some serious airplay because both Sherrie and the music deserve it.

Once again Sherrie proves she is not just a talented singer and performer but an excellent songwriter! Each one of these songs are top flight material with special mention going to the title song(a great piece of songwriting-song of the year written all over it!).Also Like A Cat will run through your mind all day,Heart On Ice, as sultry as it is innocent and I'm Still Fallin' which is one cute song from a very cute girl! Sherrie Austin shows good looks and talent can go hand in hand. This is one country CD which should be in any music fans' collection.

Streets of Heaven CD,

At first, I didn't know what to think of the CD. After i first listened to it, it just wasn't the same Sherrie I had been use to for years, but after putting it down for a week then listening to it again, I fell in love with it. Musically and lyricly the album is strong and is something i would suggest everyone owns.On another note Sherrie has a new single coming out on Feb. 23rd! from the album. It is going to be 'Driving Into the Sun' and it is a great song. The video has already been shot for it and should be great!

Hidden Talent,
By A Customer
This review is from: Streets of Heaven (Audio CD)
I have heard Sherrie's songs on the radio and seen her videos on TV in the past. But it wasn't until I saw her sing her last single "Streets of Heaven" on a GAC special that made me take notice. That along with all the positive reviews on Amazon.com, I decided to purchase her CD. There are several good songs on this CD, "Ride'em Cowgirl", "Fools Like Us", "Remind Me", and "I'm Still Fallin". The best song is her title cut "Streets of Heaven" which should go to number one. I was real impress with this CD and plan on buying some of her previous CDs. Sherrie has alot of talent, her songs need more air time. She could be Country's next rising star.

This CD has the same great vocals as the previous Sherrie Austin CDs...but this one has Personality! There are some great songs, and some great instrumentation, in addition to the great vocals of Sherrie. Recommend it. Most the songs are just plain FUN.

Awesome disc!,

"Streets of Heaven," Sherrie' Austin's 4th disc, is terrifc! In my opinion, it's better than her last album, "Followin' A Feelin'," and I loved that one too! There's a good mix of slow and fast songs here. My favorites are "Remind Me," penned solely by Ms. Austin, and "Streets of Heaven, which she co-wrote. "Remind Me" is one of those romantic, yet bittersweet ballads, which especially hits home if you're going through a break-up. For those who like more upbeat tunes, there's "Somebody's Somebody" which is a fun, hopeful song, and "Singin' to the Scarecrow," which as silly as the title may sound, is equally upbeat and full of optimism. And that's just a few songs off of this gold mine of an album! If you're a Sherrie' Austin fan, I highly recommend this disc.

Typical Sherrie Austin,

Typical meaning....Great, of course! This is her fourth release. The whole cd is great. My favorite song on the cd is "remind me". There is also a hidden track at the end of the cd that is really good, "heart on ice". Sherrie is a great songwriter and a wonderful singer. I really hope she gets the air-play that she deserves. Radio seems to dismiss her. I was lucky enough to see her in concert. She is truly a very talented aussie! I love her! You will too!

Most solid CD since Words!,

Believe or not Sherrie Austin has been on and off the country scene since 1997 when her first single "Put Your Heart Into It" hit country radio to very moderate success. It was off her debut CD "Words". When I first heard the song I admit I wasn't overly impressed especially after seeing the video for the single. I figured it was just another cliché attempt to put an artist out with average talent that was inside a pretty package and sell some records. It wasn't until her the first single off her sophomore CD "Love in the Real World" was released that I started to take notice. The song was "Never Been Kissed" a catchy tune that caught my ear. I bought the single for it and the b side of the single contained the title track off her first cd and after hearing it decided to give her debut cd a listen to and as the saying goes, the rest is history. I was incredibly pleased with it, I thought the songs were well written and her voice was refreshing, part of that I think was due to the fact that she was originally from Australia, home also to rising country star Keith Urban.
I was also surprised to discover that almost every track on the album was either written or co-written by Sherrie herself which makes her music all the more appealing. Sherrie quickly became one of my favorite Artist in any genre and I vowed from that moment on to follow her career in spades. Sherrie next two outings after words were "Love in the Real Word" and "Followin' A Feeling" respectively. Both solid efforts with some catchy and emotional, well written songs that I still listen to to this day, but just fell short of her original. Her latest CD "Streets of Heaven" has brought back all the magic, fun, and tears and then some. The title track did extremely well on country radio and helped boost sales of the CD, no thanks to Broken Bow records. As with her previous albums almost every track on the CD was either written or co-written by Sherrie and her strength as a song writer really shine, especially on the tracks "Remind Me", the title track "Streets of Heaven" and "Ride 'Em Cowgirl" which is reminiscent of the Eagles classic "Desperado" only from the female point of view. It's a solid effort and I think anyone who enjoys good country music or music in general should give a listen to. The reason Sherrie Austins' star has not shown as brightly as it should I think can be attributed to the fact that her record company's had a marginal amount of faith in her and as a result did very little to promote her music, that is also the reason over the course of Four albums she has been with three different record companies. However the music should speak for itself and I know that once someone picks up the sword and gives her music the exposure it deserves she will find herself perhaps among the greats of this genre. Bottom line, pick this album up and show support and hopefully Sherrie will continue surprising us for years to come. |
