5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD from one of the best bands playing traditional jazz, February 7, 2001
This review is from: Streets and Scenes of New Orleans (Audio CD)
YES...YES...YES!!! This CD is a must for experienced listeners of traditional, New Orleans jazz as well as for people just getting into the sound. I have heard Chris Tyle's Silver Leaf Band live now 2 years running at the Can-Can Jazz Cafe on Bourbon St. during the 1999 and 2000 Fr. Quarter Festivals. I plan to return to hear the band play this spring as well. They capture the essence of the Dixieland sound with their crisp, but not-too-studio-enhanced, renditions of some great old New Orleans tunes. Chris Tyle's horn playing is superb! The rest of the musicians are extremely accomplished and have played with the Silver Leaf Band as well as others during their collective long years of experience. The vocals are just right for this style of jazz. I often close my eyes while kicking back and listening to this CD, imagining the band playing in some of the jazz joints along Bourbon St. 75 years ago. Yes, this current collection of traditionalists would definitely fit in. Again, if you're looking for a superb example of early jazz to complement or augment your collection, start with this CD...you won't regret it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Dixieland Music, July 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Streets and Scenes of New Orleans (Audio CD)
This is the kind of music that will put you in a great mood. The sounds of New Orleans will fill your room with the wonderful mix of dixieland music. Bourbon Street Bounce is a personal favorite, but the entire CD is worth listening to over and over. If you're looing for authentic New Orlean style music, this is the CD to buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Dixieland Music, July 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Streets and Scenes of New Orleans (Audio CD)
When my family gets together, we end up playing music - dixieland music. It is so much fun! When I heard Bourbon Street Bounce, it reminded me so much of my family. The other day, I was priviledged to share this CD with my great-uncle. He thought it was great and it made me happy to know that I have a good ear for great music. Keep up the great work - Silver Leaf Jazz Band!
