A melange that works for the ears and the feet,
By empty pockets (New Orleans, LA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: And the Streets Will Flow With Whiskey (Audio CD)
Some of the best artistic creations seem at first unsightly mixtures of disparate influences. This can be said of the Zydepunks, a Cajun Slavic Irish speed-folk band that deftly defies categorization. The universality of folk music worldwide is the thread that runs through this strange tapestry, but traditional driven at times to a punk-rock frenzy. If you're looking for the steady trance-inducing 4/4 of traditional Zydeco, look elsewhere. Yet this is music to move your feet to more than anything; at their most frenetic the Zydepunks remain rhythmically sharp.
