5.0 out of 5 stars A melange that works for the ears and the feet, March 21, 2007

Some of the best artistic creations seem at first unsightly mixtures of disparate influences. This can be said of the Zydepunks, a Cajun Slavic Irish speed-folk band that deftly defies categorization. The universality of folk music worldwide is the thread that runs through this strange tapestry, but traditional driven at times to a punk-rock frenzy. If you're looking for the steady trance-inducing 4/4 of traditional Zydeco, look elsewhere. Yet this is music to move your feet to more than anything; at their most frenetic the Zydepunks remain rhythmically sharp.
