Voiceover Hell,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Streetsweeper Vol. 1 (Explicit Version) (Audio CD)
This guy is the most annoying thing to hit the music scene since copy protected MP3's. I have one thing to say to this guy...let me listen to the song. I am sick of this guy talking over every song with his shots out to his brother, his first grade teacher, his Aunt Louis in Philly... It sounds like this guy just bough his first mic and needs to sing along with every song just to hear himself. Bad karaoke if you ask me. Just my 50 cents...

What is Kay Slay doin? Does he seriously think he has what it takes to sell rap records? He sounds like a cow reading a doctor seuss book. (thanx whoever i got that from, someone from this website). We dont care if he is the DRAMA KING, or QUEEN for that matter. He should go back to what hes good at(which is basically nothin) the intro to track 6 is absolutey hilarious and thats the only good thing about this album.

some good songs, but can't stand intros,

When I buy a cd I expect it to be music. This cd is nothing more then some guy yelling over tracks and stupid skits. Don't get me wrong there are some good songs but it really gets old with the yelling. I just don't know where some would think it would be cool if he gave a shout out to his cousins RayRay and Shawanda in the middle of a song it's pretty lame. From a music stand point there are good songs but it's not worth the money I'm glad I bought mine used.

COMPLETE GARBAGE,

OK. I'm not hating on Kay Slay or nothin', but common, there is not a decent track on thsi album. Every song starts with 30 seconds of intros and...things that are not necessary and keep listners wanting to skip ahead. Not like that does any good, since the next track is guaranteed to be horrible. However, Kay Slay doesn't do much of the rapping himself, making this album not entirely his fault. Its also to long to be a good album.

The Drama King takes his street credibility to the stores.,

Anyone that follows the mixtape circuit definitely knows about DJ Kayslay. The Drama King has been putting it down for years and he is the 4 time world heavyweight mixtape champion. With the success that Funkmaster Flex and DJ Clue have had with their studio offerings, I was surprised to see that Kayslay hadn't released one of his own. With "The Streetsweeper Volume 1", DJ Kayslay has done just that. Anyone that has followed his mixed CDs know that he always has exclusive tracks and freestyles and "The Streetsweeper Volume 1" follows the same formula. The "Intro" is completely unnecessary as DJ Kayslay is actually trying to rap about things that have happened in his life. We buy his mixed CDs to see what exclusive songs that he has with other rappers not to hear him get behind the mic and try to rap. Then to make things worse, he dug Aaron Hall up from out of nowhere and he is singing on the track. This will require an immediate fast forward. However, things definitely get better as Scarface, Raekwon and Fat Joe are teamed up on "I Never Liked Ya ***". This is my favorite track on this CD so far as what some people would see as an odd couple, turns out to be a deadly combination. The LOX stop by to contribute the title track to pleasant results as well. While some people may to tired of their rap subjects since they left Bad Boy & P Diddy, I don't have a problem with that at all as the LOX display their know grimey style. Once Styles P comes home, I will be waiting for the LOX's 3rd CD, which should be released later on this year. 50 Cent takes the beat from LL Cool J's "I Shot Ya" to contribute "50 Shot Ya". I am sure that LL won't mind after he hears 50's clever lyrics to the beat. 50 shows why he has sold almost 5 million CDs already. Bad Boy holdovers Black Rob, G Dep, and Craig Mack show up on the D Dot produced "Everybody Wanna Shine" and things actually sound good. I am still wondering when Black Rob will drop another CD after the classic "Life Story" but for now his fans will just have to settle for his infrequent guest appearances. On the Dame Grease and Dr. Dre produced "Coast To Coast Gangstas", Sauce Money, Joe Budden, WC, Bun B from UGK, Killer Mike & Hak Ditty are all on one track as they ride the old Dr. Dre beat and actually take advantage of the fact that they even get a chance to rap to the track. The 1st single, "Too Much For Me" with Nas, Baby, Foxy Brown & Amerie was the perfect choice for the single based on all the tracks on this CD, although the remix version on the video just has Loon, Foxy Brown and Amerie on it. The track is pretty good but Baby's rap doesn't fit inbetween Nas and Foxy Brown's verses. While most of "The Streetsweeper Volume 1" sounds pretty tight it does have its faults. On "Champions" the DJs display why they belong behind the boards and not on the mic. Dame Grease wasted a beat with this song and you will definitely not want to hear the track again after one listen. However, it is good to see DJ Clue and DJ Kayslay on the same track since they have been at it for years. On "Seven Deadly Sins" which features Vita, Angie Martinez, Duchess, Lady May, Amil, Sonja Blade & Remy Martin it is too easy to realize who the best rapper is and that shouldn't happen on a collaboration. Remy Martin simply rips the rest of these females to shreds. MESSAGE TO FAT JOE: RELEASE A REMY MARTIN CD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. He has no excuse to release Tony Sunshine or anyone else left in Terror Squad before he releases Remy Martin. On, "I'm A Smack This ........", Noreaga displays why you should listen to your product before you decide to release a track to the public. Nore can do better than this. You will definitely be fast forwarding that track as well. Overall, DJ Kayslay displays why he is known for being the one that releases the best exclusive tracks. For the most part, "The Streetsweeper Volume 1" displays why Kayslay has the good reputation that he does. Unless you already have a mixed CD with the majority of these tracks on it, I recommend that you pick this up.James' Top 5 1) I Never Liked Ya ***- Scarface, Raekwon & Fat Joe

Disappointment,

With all the hype behind Kay Slay and this album, I thought it'd be a DJ Album banger like Clue's two studio albums or like Funk Flex and Big Kap's joint. Sadly, this ain't nearly what's really good. All the cameos from heavy hitters looked good on the back cover and made me cop it, but the CD is something entirely different. The best verses on this album come from new cats like Cassidy, J. Hood, and Joe Buddens (50's joint is good too). Those three did they thing. Platinum artists like Nas and Jadakiss and Fat Joe didn't come with they A-game. The production on this album is TERRIBLE. Only two songs on this album have bangin beats. So sad. Stick to mixtapes dunny.

Kayslay has done it again. If you heard his recent mixtapes then you heard most of the songs on this album, but there are a few new hot joints on it. If you haven't heard his recent mixtapes, you'll love it!!!!!!!! Personally I feel he could of done a little better, but it's well worth listening to.

It's obvious to most that the Drama King, DJ KaySlay, is the best mixtape DJ on the planet. This album is just another testament to his legacy, solid from beginning to end. There are a few songs I could do without (Seven Deadly Sins), but overall a worthwhile purchase. The best aspect of this album: KaySlay doesn't constantly talk over the beat like other DJ's, Clue and Funk Flex to name a few.
