5.0 out of 5 stars The Streetsweeper Vol.2-The Pain From The Game, January 6, 2005
This review is from: The Streetsweeper Vol. 2 - The Pain From The Game (Audio CD)
Great album, you can let it play and not skip any tracks (Besides maybe the D12 track and the last track)

1.King Of The Streets-Skit
2.Face Off-Ghostface & Scarface-produced by Heatmakerz-5/5-Probably the best song on the album (definately the best lyrically) from 2 of the greatest MCs of all time
3.Angels Around Me-G-Unit-produced by DJ Twinz-5/5-Great production with Lloyd Banks verse being the best (unsurprisingly)
4.Hands On The Pump-Sauce Money, Memphis Bleek & Game-produced by DJ Clark Kent-5/5-The same beat as Eazy-E's "Eazy-Er Said Than Dunn", great song with 3 hot verses
5.I'm Gone-Eminem & Obie Trice-produced by Eminem-4.5/5-Eminem & Obie both drop a pretty hot verses
6.Harlem-Cam'ron & Chinky Brown Eyes-produced by Stay Gettin-5/5-Cam spits fire over nice production
7.Not Your Average Joe-Joe Budden, Fat Joe & Joe-produced by The Dream Team-5/5-2nd single, great beat and Fat Joe & Budden are good lyrically
8.Don't Stop The Music-Lil Flip, E-40 & Lil Mo-produced by E-A-Ski & CMT-5/5-Hot beat, and personally I think E-40 & Flip are great MCs, great party song
9.The Truth-LL Cool J-produced by Swizz Beats-5/5-Definately the best LL Cool J has spit for a LONG time, great lyrically
10.No Problems-N.O.R.E., Jaheim, Nature & Left Gunz-5/5-produced by Kanye West-Great production by Kanye, with 2 great rappers (NORE & Nature)dropping hot verses and Left Gunz, who I've never heard of, also brings heat lyrically
11.Alphabetical Slaughter-Papoose-produced by Stay Gettin-5/5-I think its just amazing that a lot of this song actually makes sense, I think that he'll probably be a very good MC
12.Drama-David Banner, Lil Jon, Bun-B & Baby D-produced by Stay Gettin-5/5-Another one of the best songs on the album, Banner's flow is riddiculous, Bun B spits straight fire & Baby D also drops a hot verse
13.Who Gives A F*ck Where You From?-Three 6 Mafia, Lil Wyte & Frayser Boy-produced by Three 6 Mafia-5/5-The reason I bought the album, and another one of the best songs on it, classic Three 6 crunk
14.Get Retarded-Juelz Santana, Jim Jones & Twista-produced by Stay Gettin-4/5-Twista outshines Jim & Juelz by far, dropping a great verse
15.Census Bureau-D12-3/5-Not very good lyrically at all (no Eminem) and an OK beat
16.Through Your Head-Jae Millz, Angelous, Trife, Cashmere, Maino, True Life & The Bad Seed-produced by Stay Gettin-5/5-Before I heard this song, I had only heard of Jae Millz and Trife, Angelous sounds like he's biting off of Jay-Z's style, great sampling
17.Untouchables-Raekwon, Prodigy & AZ-produced by Heatmakerz-5/5-3 great rappers drop 3 hot verses, especially Az's
18.The Kennedies-Bristal & C. White-produced by Heatmakerz-4.5/5-Hot verses & a nice beat
19.Celebrity Love-LaLa, Tiffany, Steph Lova, Sunny & Chinky Brown Eyes-3/5-produced by Heatmakerz-The beat sounds almost exactly the same as DTP's Growing Pains Remix (samples the same song)and the concept of VJ's rapping is pretty stupid

3.0 out of 5 stars 3 and a half stars- The original was better than the sequel, June 18, 2004

This review is from: The Streetsweeper Vol. 2 - The Pain From The Game (Audio CD)
DJ Kayslay has been in the mixtape game for a minute and he has earned respect in the game for bringing out the best mixtapes. Most of the times when a music fan like me buys a mixtape it's for songs that appear on mixtapes before the actual CDs come out in stores or to hear freestyles or unlikely pairings on a mixtape that may never appear on an actual CD. Case in point on "The Streetsweeper Volume 1" a track called "I Never Liked Ya A**". Although Fat Joe and Scarface collaborated on Fat Joe's "Loyalty" CD, it is rare to hear Scarface, Fat Joe and Raekwon on a track together. So when I read the tracklisting for "The Streetsweeper Volume 1", that's why I became interested in the CD plus they had a song that I had heard from 50 Cent before entitled "50 Shot Ya".

"The Streetsweeper Volume 2: The Pain From The Game" takes place where the 1st volume left off. Once again, Track 2 ends up being the best track on the CD as Scarface and Ghostface appear on a track called "Face Off". Although it seems like an unlikely pairing, the two rappers are able to mesh well together and contribute to the best track on the CD. Eminem and Obie Trice show up on the Eminem produced "I'm Gone". This track sounds just as good as any of the songs from Obie Trice's "Cheers". Another stellar track is "No Problems" featuring Noreaga, Nature, Jaheim & Left Gunz. Kanye West supplies a beat suitable for Noreaga & Nature as Jaheim sings the hook and brings his homie Left Gunz along for the ride. The track doesn't sound like the trademark beat from Kanye an unless you looked at the CD's credits you probably wouldn't be able to guess that Kanye produced the track. Lil Jon, Bun B from UGK, David Banner and Baby D definitely bring in the Down South flavor with "Drama" as Lil Jon chimes in with his famous phrases and Bun B, David Banner and Baby D give nice verses over the Stay Gettin' track. G Unit shows up with "Angels Around Me" which sounds like it was left off of "Beg For Mercy". While current tracks by Lloyd Banks and Young Buck are better, this song is worth checking out if you are a G Unit or 50 Cent fan.

While most of "The Streetsweeper Volume 2" is pretty good, there are some negatives about this CD. First of all, the Twista & Diplomats track "Get Retarded". Twista's verse is real nice and so is the beat by Stay Gettin' but with Jim Jones rapping off beat and with Juelz Santana not on the top of his game, a song that could have been a stand out track ends up being mediocre. While I liked Camron's "Come Home With Me" and even The Diplomats double CD, "Diplomatic Immunity", Cam needs to go back to the drawing board after hearing "Harlem". Maybe the obsession with the color pink is affecting his rhymes. Then on the "Not Your Average Joe" track with Fat Joe, Joe Budden, and Joe the track is decent but ends up not being as good with the played out Chaka Khan "Ain't Nobody" sample. The lyrics are tight but The Dream Team should have picked another beat. The same can be said about "Don't Stop The Music" with Lil Flip, E 40 and Lil Mo. Everytime you hear this track you will think of the song from Puffy's "No Way Out" CD that had Lil Kim rapping over a dance track with Puffy. LL Cool J sounds as if he has a winner on his hands with "The Truth" until he raps about 8-10 bars in Spanish. There is nothing wrong with using different languages in songs but they should be limited to 2 lines not half of a continuous verse, unless you actually speak that language fluently.

Overall, DJ Kayslay puts together a decent CD. On some of the songs there are nice verses like on "Hands On The Pump" with Sauce Money, Memphis Bleek and The Game but when you used the same hook that Cypress Hill used back in the day and the same beat that Eazy E used on "Eazy're Said Than Dunn" it takes away from the quality of the track. I know this is a mixed CD but when you are trying to release a mixed CD in stores, originality works better, in my opinion. However, if you are looking from tracks from your favorite rap artists that won't appear on any of their CDs, this just might be the CD for you.

James' Top 5

1) Face Off- Scarface & Ghostface
2) No Problems- Noreaga, Nature, Jaheim & Left Gunz
3) Drama- Lil Jon, Bun B, David Banner & Baby D
4) I'm Gone- Eminem & Obie Trice
5) Angels Around Me- G Unit
