Streetwise Hawaii Map - Laminated State Road Map of Hawaii

This was a decent map. In general, it's handy to have small, hand held laminated maps when you're driving. That said, there were other, more detailed maps in Hawaii that I liked more. I get a map to see how to get myself off of small, obscure roads, so if those roads are not on the map, then the map isn't much help, which was the case with this map. But, if you're planning on staying ON the beaten path, this map will do.

This provides small scale road maps of the main Hawaiian islands (Hawaii, Kauai, Maui, Molokai and Oahu), plus a detailed street map of downtown Honolulu and Waikiki.

It's big advantage is that it is compact (8.5 x 4 in) and very easy to open out for quick navigation checks. I found it very helpful for street-level navigation around Honolulu and for the major roads on Oahu and Big Island.

It doesn't aim to cover all the smaller roads. But what it does, it does well.

The map is too basic for navigation on your own. I have realized it when attempted to find the way to the remotely located beach on the Island of Hawaii. I ended up buying far more detailed map of the Island in the local Wal-Mart.

I thought I would be getting a laminated roadmap of the Big Island of Hawaii. Instead it includes tiny maps of all the Hawaiian islands. Therefore, it just shows the major highways and is all but useless. Very disappointed. To Amazon's credit, when I complained they credited my account and said to not bother returning it.

Honestly , when you arive at each island the car companies give you all kinds of maps and places to go visit. So it really didn't help a lot. Also most GPS work very well on the island's .

As usual, we find the Streewise maps to be a big help in both trip planning as well as touring.

Best thing is that it is laminated and doesn't tear like the paper maps. I have used these maps before. While they do not do tiny street by tiny street they can get you in a general area that you can navigate quite easily. I use sharpies to write on them and erase with hairspray when I am done or ready for the next day. I always try to get one for my trips. I now haven quite a collection of them.

These maps are great and I am ready to drive around Hawaii. Easy to read, easy to fold and will not tear.
