This map was a terrible disappointment. It leaves out whole important sections of the city (the Giudecca, even the Lido!), gives only the main streets (thus making it much easier to get lost in an already maze-like place), and leaves out vital information found on standard tourist maps, such as water-bus (vaporetto) routes and opening times for museums. My advice: save your money and get a decent map for a few bucks when you get to Venice.

Regardless of the map you WILL find a deadend in Venice - turn the corner and there is no more - either a wall or a canal.

This map is great - thin and water-resistant (coated) overall
best deal for the price/size.

This is a Venice street map, laminated, folding into standard envelope size item. You can get essentially the same thing, only without lamination, from a tourist bureau while in Venice for free. A good product, but not an essential one to buy ahead of your trip to Venice - get it there.

I have many maps from visiting Italy and have ordered some that were similar from the hotel lobbies, but this one is excellent compared to those. It shows all the little side canals and even has the canal where my future hotel is, which based on trip advisor comments, alot of travelers had a hard time locating. I am happy with this map - streetwise Venice; as well as streetwise Rome.

My husband and I found this map to be extremely helpful, in large part because of the clear identification of the monuments. It's worth the money to have it for the first day or two until you get your bearings.

There are maps with more detail, but this map is an essential. Lightweight, laminated (waterproof), pocket-sized, and with almost all the detail that most Venice visitors, new or experienced, will need. Fully-opened, it is still small and easy to use. A handy gazeteer lists many streets and monuments, with map grid locations. There are some very tiny streets/alleys that are hard to make out, but that is true for almost any
pocket-sized folding map. A guidebook like the Michelin Green will have some maps in it that may have more detail, but with this one, you needn't refer to the book most of the time.

Just back from a week in Italy. You definitely need a map in Venice, and I was glad I had this. BUT--poor contrast makes this map difficult to read. Maybe it is my middle aged eyes, but the tiny print and dark colors made this difficult to read. Someone I was travelling with had one from the Lonely Planet folks and it was much better.

I usually have a great sense of direction and Venice is the first city I've ever vacationed where I actually got lost when there was still daylight. If I didn't have this map, it would have been much worse.

The map has it's problems but that has more to do with the streets of Venice which have long names that often change every block. I don't blame the map-makers. I think that they did the best they could while keeping the map smallish: it folds out to 8.5 inches X 19 inches. (It is 8.5 inches X 4 inches folded up.) This map is much better than the maps included in the Venice travel book we bought ("Top Ten Venice"), and I'm glad we bought it. We'd truly have been lost without it.

Perfect map for my trip in Venice...I love the fact that I can't destoy it if it gets wet...

If you are not great at refolding maps this is the map for you. I can fold it in any direction so I can have the area I want to concentrate on. This map and others from them are very difficult to destroy. Perfect for travel.
