Support, respite, and encouragement for those who care for others Taking care of a family member who is ill, disabled, or dying requires courage, strength, commitment, and love. Now Terry Hargrave, an expert in counseling and caregiving, offers you help with a devotional written with your specific needs in mind. The morning prayers and evening reflections in this book are short and to the point. 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent content. Very readable., September 25, 2009

This review is from: Strength and Courage for Caregivers: 30 Hope-Filled Morning and Evening Reflections (Hardcover)
I'm surprised there are not more reviews about this book because it is excellent, in my opinion. If you're not into attending support groups, but sometimes wish there was someone to talk with who understands what it's like to be a caregiver, you'll probably like this book a lot. This little book of morning and evening devotionals is filled with pearls of wisdom. It was easy reading and well worth the modest price.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT BOOK!!!, January 11, 2012

This book helps me understand the struggles of caregiving and that all the emotions I go through are normal and I am not alone. That someone else has been there and done that and can offer support, hope and understanding to those of us that are still continuing the journey. I will always recommend this book to others. Even when my current journey with my mom is over. I hope to create support groups for caregivers - there are not enough of them - and this book will be one of my top recommendations.

Thank you Terry Hargrave for sharing your journey and real emotions. They have helped me incredibly and still do.

In response to there needing more prayers listed in the book...I believe after reading the devotions - those prayers should reflect our own prayers and what God has revealed to us at that very moment after reading the devotional. It can also be a time to reflect on what was read if you are not a Christian.

The book is great for all people young, old, Christian, non-christian. Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good stories, Few Prayers, March 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Although I felt the stories were encouraging and the link to scripture good, I was disappointed about the dearth of prayers in the book. In the editorial review it says, "The morning prayers and evening reflections in this book are short and to the point." Unfortunately, there were only about three or four prayers, and I hoped for a lot more. Most of the books is comprised of scripture and reflection on the connection between them and the burdens of caregiving - fine, but it is not a book of prayers.
