4.0 out of 5 stars The workouts are intensive and the book daunting ..., December 23, 1999

... but I found the book to be of great use. A friend of mine purchased the book several years ago, and during the time I utilized the program, I made impressive gains. Unfortunately, my lifting partner and I lost touch and I never saw the book again. :) Most of the exercises are above and beyond what the casual lifter wants (power cleans, anyone?), but with some selective editing of the program, my friend and I were quite happy. One must also realize that the book is aimed at potential football players, being the training program of the University of Tennessee. Lastly, the setting of unrealistic goals will very quickly make one wish one were on a different program. However, I believe that this book is overall a useful resource to anyone who wants to diversify their training program.

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T Waste your Money!!!!, April 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Strength Training for Football (Paperback)
I was extremely disappointed in this book. I'm not sure who this book is suppose to be targeting and I don't think the author is either. I read and got everything I possibly could from this book in less than 20 minutes. It is filled with mostly empty charts and pages. In fact, that is what the majority of the book is comprised of. Quality information is sorely lacking. Without a doubt, this is one of the worst purchases I have ever made. Do not buy this book until you have handled it personally either in a book store or through a library. If you do, you will regret it!!
